Bargains, bargains much cheapness - stonking secondhand finds

Very pleased with a haul this morning from a local secondhand shop - I only went in to collect a parcel.

I picked up a pair of unworn Tamaris black sued ankle boots for £13
Mexx ladies winter coat, quilted down, navy blue, size 10 only lightly worn, £12
And a genuine Japanese cotton Yukata (lighter Kimono) unworn £5 (I have been on the lookout for a genuine Kimono for ages .
Most happy with that little haul!

What have been your best bargains recently?

This is not recent but my best ever was a pure silk paisley shirt - green and burgundy. It somehow works for every event from work to fancy parties. I've had it about 8 years and worn it averagely twice a week- it was on the pound rail and cost me one pound!

Melissamelisante · 28/09/2023 12:17

crochetmonkey74 that sounds amazing! What a bargain for only a £1. I love to find something that 'works' in many situations.

I just bought a new with tags 100% wool aran jumper on eBay for £14.99. Added it to my watch list when it was £19.99 and the seller sent me an offer to get £5 off right away. 😁 It's a lovely autumnal rust colour.

Orangewall · 28/09/2023 12:23

I’ve just bought a linen shirt I was willing to spend almost £40 on brand new for £3 on vinted.
my favourite charity shop find was an 80’s Laura Ashley ball gown type dress, I made some alterations and it’s my favourite dress ever! £5.

Melissamelisante · 28/09/2023 12:42

caramond I LOVE it when that happens! It was obviously meant to be. Fabulous find for autumn (when the temperature finally starts to be more seasonal).

Orangewall what a find! You must be well chuffed. And how lucky are you with the Laura Ashley dress? Whenever I find a piece, it is so obvious how much better made clothes were in the 80's and 90's. You just don't see the finishing and fabrics anymore (old gimmer that I am).

A black Hobbs (Hobbes?) long coat. Looked "meh" on the hanger, put it on and it was the perfect fit, hung well and looked expensive.

I had the kind of job that took me into court semi-regularly, I wore it every time. Still use it for funerals.

£30 well spent.

happyhouse2 · 28/09/2023 13:12

A MV jumper for £8, Calvin Klein dress for £14 and a beaut camel crew neck jumper for £4. Delighted with myself!!!

Melissamelisante · 28/09/2023 14:22

OccultGnuNew it's always worth trying something on isn't? Some things look fab on the hanger but terrible on and other things just don't show promise until tried on. I always say to my adult daughter that she needs to try stuff on! what value for £30!
happyhouse2 Wow! I'd be delighted too, with that little lot.

Just scored a steal for my daughter who is on the look out for some brogues, vintage style. Managed to get some Tamaris brown leather, low healed brogue lace ups for £4.50 - they had not been worn! She's coming over later for Sunday dinner and I can't wait to give them to her.

A Boss wool skirt for £15 - barely worn but the zip opening had ripped slightly at the bottom - took me five mins to fix.

triggers34 · 17/12/2023 10:21

2 Celtic and co jumpers £2 each!
I always buy wool jumpers if I see them.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 17/12/2023 10:23

mine have been jigsaw and other expensive suits on eBay and boots, for much less forget how much but literally £20 etc on eBay.

Charity shops in expensive areas.

CoatOfArms · 17/12/2023 10:25

Best recent purchase was a black Hobbs shift dress which I wore for my graduation and cost me £7 in my local Save the Children. Other good buys were a wool Hobbs coat BNWT for £15 and a pair of never worn Doc Marten boots for £8. DD loves a charity shop rummage, on a recent weekend away in northumberland she hit the Oxfam in Alnwick and pretty much cleared out their stock of Zara returns in her size - two pairs of cargo pants, a wee "going out" top and two little black dresses for about £16.

Britpopbaby · 17/12/2023 10:37

Didrikson parka for £50 in a style that is selling for £200 on the website at the moment.

Gettincoldouthere · 17/12/2023 15:22

I was looking to replace a pink jumper. Found the exact shade in cashmere from eBay. 15 quid and in perfect condition.

Supersimkin2 · 17/12/2023 15:45

Aquascutum trench for £20.00. Perfect nick, vintage. I don’t normally go over a tenner, I informed the assistant firmly, but this was worth it. They’re hard to come by.

Hayuge cashmere wrap for £6, with tag for 400 quid. Perfect ocean blue.

Balham.

LiveLaughLoaf · 17/12/2023 15:46

My best recent buy was a pair of zebra flats by The Edit. I’d never heard of the make but the shoes looked great quality, leather lined etc. Looked them up when I got home and they were £200 on the website. Thank you Cancer Research £8! The charity shops round me are pretty savvy now so this sort of bargain doesn’t happen too often anymore, so even better.

Beaverbridge · 17/12/2023 17:28

@Melissamelisante I know!. It was mixed in with a load of bobbly jumpers. Always wanted a Biba item. Just need an occasion to wear it to!!.
