Recommend me some slippers please

Hi,

I need some new slippers and need some recommendations from you lovely lot.

In the past I have had mocassons from M&S but last years were bad quality and uncomfortable. Before that I had some sketchers but the sole was so thick/hard it felt like walking in shoes.

I'm not fussy on colour and probably only want to spend up to £40 .

What will I like?

I bought a pair of sheepskin slippers from House of Bruar for my aunt a few years ago. They present themselves as quintessentially Scottish and the price was similar to that of Celtic sheepskin slippers. She was upset to find a Made in China tag inside them. I'd rather spend that sort of money on sheepskin from the UK or EU, where there are regulations about the keeping and slaughter of animals and the safe use and disposal of all the chemicals involved in tanning. So the House of Bruar (which seems to have got itself stuck in the early 90s style-wise) is a no-no from me.

Shock I was just about to recommend my house of bruar slippers (mainly because they are sheepskin, not specifically a recommendation for HoB).

I never checked where they were made but will do when I get home. I had assumed they were Highland sheep or something!

To OP, go sheepskin if your budget will stretch. They keep your feet at the perfect temp no matter how hot or cold the weather.

I have found some lovely hush puppies mocassins that I am going to get.

Thank you for all the suggestions. These will be a gift from my mum for my birthday and she doesn't have much money so although some of these suggestions are lovely they are just out of her price range

I've just been back on their site to see whether they now give the country of origin of their suede and sheepskin goods and they don't, so my guess is that everything's from China. Otherwise they'd be making a song and dance about it being made in Scotland or the UK.

I have Fat Face ones, although this year's aren't as good quality I don't think but we shall see.

I also some furry boot ones that I wear when it's really cold(They last ages though as I only wear them when my feet are really cold).

My H got me a pair of gumbies last Christmas, comfy and have worn well so far

Not cheap, but worth every penny, have a look at xantheanna.uk - sheepskin slippers you can choose your own colours and she makes them especially for you.

Gumbies! Fab service too. I've had mine for years, as has friend. Just bought DH some and he loves them too. Sturdy, comfy and will last forever

I buy from Celtic and Co. Sheepskin is from the UK snd they are made here too. They aren’t too bad price wise you can often find a 10-20% off code plus free delivery if you check online.

I do buy the Aldi ones for the children,They wear well. I bought new ones for Christmas but the ones from Christmas before are still in decent condition just getting a bit too snuggly. Eldest child has an adult version of Aldi boots due to size 9 feet and they are wearing fine. Think they were £30.

I love my TOMS slippers. My last pair were still going after 2 years but were looking a bit ropey so have a new pair. They wash well too.
