Help me not ruin my hair now I've started swimming please

My hair was getting into quite good condition but since I've started swimming and tieing it back more I have split ends and it seems a lot thinner without any volume

I sometimes wear a cap but putting this on feels like it doesn't do my hair any favours either.

Is there a magic solution I'm not aware of or do I need to accept a lower condition of my hair now?

Any help
Would be appreciated many thanks!

Phillip Kingsley hair cap swimming treatment?

swimymummy · 27/09/2023 06:45

Swimming cap, every single time. Also wet your hair before getting in, it reduces the amount of chlorine or salt your hair absorbs. Good quality products, plus I use a leave in conditioner, as well as normal.

I put caster oil on the ends of my hair after wetting it a little. Also always wear a cap

Put baby powder in your cap; it will go on much easier. Wet your hair thoroughly in the shower before putting your cap on.

I use the Philip Kingsley Swim Cap, swim three times a week and find it works well.

This. I use PK Swim Cap and then also put an actual swimming cap on too. (I have expensive highlights and don't want to ruin them).

Is the PK swim cap an actual cap or a cream?

Also if I put my swimming cap on with dry hair, my hair is wet all over after - so am I doing something wrong or is it accepted that some water gets in but still better than wearing no cap?

Thanks

It is a Cream, I don't wear a cap at all.

My hairdresser says wet your hair thoroughly, apply a cheap conditioner, then put your swim cap on.

I have recently started in april swimming and was also worried but it's fine.

Wet hair and swim cap and then wash and condition every time. I use the fake aldi olaplex and really like it.

I don't like using product in the pool as its not great for people swimming through products but i suppose the it get diluted so each to their own.
