Having lurked on the style boards for a wee while now I thought I'd be brave and ask for your advice.

I'm in need of some retail therapy, looking for a funky outfit or two to suit an apple shaped size 14.

No particular event in mind, just everyday clothes that will make me feel fab.

Usually wear Monsoon but love Coast. Shoe suggestions also welcome (can you wear wedges with trousers?? I'm clueless!!) As for colours, I'm a typical pale Scottish lassie (reddish hair, freckles).

Please help!

Knee length empire-line cut dresses are good for apple shapes as they skim the midriff.

Try padded or push-up bras so that your boobs stick out further than your tummy.

Tops with a V neckline, floaty cap sleeves will help balance out your figure.

Trousers should be straighted-legged cut to balance you out so avoid skinny styles (preferably with a side zip so the tummy are is as smooth as possible). Avoid drawstring trousers & angled pockets
as they will add bulk.

Also high waisted pencil skirts but don't get an elasticated waist as they will add bulk to your midriff.

Thanks musicgirl. Need to throw out all my boot-cut jeans then

Will look for a pencil skirt and empire dresses - sounds just the thing!

Any links to fab websites gratefully received!

Any other tips anyone?
