Coty L'Aimant, dates to the same era and is pretty much identical.

@TheLeadbetterLife I wondered about that as it sounded similar. Sadly they only make the Eau de Toilette now.

It's not the same , but a similar vibe and vintage - Lanvin's Arpege? To be it smells like the old Oil of Ulay in the pink bottle. Again, similar vibe but not same smell is Eaudemoiselle de Givenchy.

Perfume Parlour make fabulous Chanel dupes . They are pretty obscurely named as Chanel are very litigious but Spike 0132 and Delicacy 0131 are the Number 5 ones

I think they're the same formulation actually - PP just change the name every so often to keep ahead of Chanel!

Interesting that with the Opium one they feel able to say 'similar fragrance notes to Opium' but they don't feel able to risk even that with the Chanel one.

I don't think clues will help as the names are so deliberately random! Someone put together a list of the names and the corresponding Chanel scents a while ago - might even have been a Mumsnetter and that still pops up if you Google Chanel PP dupes. Perfect is apparently Chanel 19.

Jacomo Silences is about the nearest you'll get.

@Puppylucky yes, they were on one of the older Perfumista threads- be aware though that PP have had to change the names of some of them as Chanel (and Dior) are on to anywhere selling dupes with similar names.

In all honesty - the complex fragrances by houses like Dior, Chanel and Guerlain etc (I'm talking about the old, classic fragrances, not the newer stuff) are never going to be spot on and whilst I have loads of PP dupes that I'm very happy with (PP Opium and Rive Gauche for example, both smell more like the original Opium and RG than the new reformulations) I've yet to find a Chanel or Guerlain that hit the spot. I save PP for (imo overpriced) stuff like Jo Malone, Tom Ford, Acqua di Parma etc.

'Vogue' by Milton Lloyd is very, very good. It's strong and long lasting. They cost peanuts on amazon.

Resurrecting this thread because I made a note of the names at the time and have tried both Perfume Parlour dupes now. Spike is absolutely spot on for no 5 - it really is! I'm delighted!

Yes! Madam Glamour from Lidl, believe it or not. It's £5.

Femelle is La Vie est Belle - Lancome
Madame Glamour is Coco Mademoiselle - Chanel

If you want to go the whole hog @HJ40 Lidl also do a Madame Glamour handcream, and Molton Brown Jasmine and Sun Rose shower gel smells almost identical too, although I don't know if that's coincidence rather than being a dupe.

I always have a bottle of Lidl Femelle in my car glove box.
To me, it smells similar to my Opium Black (on me) which only ever gets an airing on a special occasion. 😂

I put "Black Opium vs. L....." into the search bar and didn't get any further as it immediately filled in La Vie est Belle!
It seems that they are indeed very similar.

Can you put a squirt of one on one wrist and the other on the other and report back how they differ?

I can do the same with Coco Mademoiselle and Madame Glamour at the weekend but I'll have to get to the Lidl to use their tester as I just gave it to MIL.
All in the interests of science, as I'm not even that keen on Coco Mademoiselle!

I bought a small bottle of the perfume parlour No. 5 dupe just to compare (I have a couple of the bottles of the real stuff) and it's only slightly similar in my opinion. Not the same at all, sadly.
