School trousers for cycling teen?

Hello,

DS (aged 13) cycles to school (20 mins each way) and does not look after his clothes very well. His school trousers ripped open in a rather sensitive area today - they were decent quality (I thought) from the John Lewis essentials range. I think he needs some slightly stretchy ones to cope with cycling - they need to be plain black and come in adult sizes (he is about 5ft 7in, waist around 32in). Any recommendations?

I don’t want to spend loads but I think the supermarket basics will just rip again so want to avoid false economy.

My ds cycles to school in all weathers, and the M&S trousers had plenty of stretch to accommodate his cycling, even in his preferred super skinny cut, and always lasted till his legs got too long
