Jumpers if you’re top heavy

Huge boobs, x2 c section pouch, no hips or bum, normal legs.

Chunky knits just make me look so top heavy, especially if with skinny jeans/jeggings/leggings when I look like candy floss on a stick. Cardigans make me look like a bag lady.

If you can relate how do you wear knitwear? Or do I need something better on bottom half? Pics/links if you have handy

I find jumpers or cardigans are most flattering when they are cropped as the end at the waist which is my slimmest area instead of my hips which is the biggest.

I wear cropped jumpers over a dress.

Neuilly · 18/09/2023 22:02

But my biggest area is the gut/pouch/apron between waist and hips - my hips barely stick out at all

You definitely want v or scoop neck, rather than a higher neck/roll neck.

SunRainStorm · 18/09/2023 22:20

A v-neck jumper, and then a jacket over it, break up the space visually.

MooMa83 · 18/09/2023 22:25

I'm a similar shape and find a slouchy jumper dress quite flattering...i can'twork out how to post a link, but this sort of thing. I like wearing scarves as well to break it up a bit.

I like that slouchy dress where from please?

I’ve tried and tried to find a v neck that doesn’t flash my boobs. Wearing a cami under just makes me feel ancient. Anyone got any links to a shallow v neck?

And what sort of jacket to go over? Years ago I had a jersey blazer and a cord blazer which I loved and wore to death but haven’t seen anything similar since

M&S for jersey blazers, I got a couple last year and I've recently got an M&co soft blazer second hand which has been complimented

Turmerictolly · 19/09/2023 07:01

@MooMa83 , that's a nice dress. Can you say where it's from please?

PinkTonic · 19/09/2023 07:13

There are cord blazers everywhere from Me&Em to Uniqlo at the moment. How about a blouse or layering top with a v neck knitted tank?

GettingStuffed · 19/09/2023 09:30

Thin v neck sweaters, mainly from M&S . I don't mind flashing a bit of cleavage but I have a couple of tops which are wrap and I need to wear a vest (same colour as top with a lacy top)

PureAmazonian · 19/09/2023 09:35

Don't wear them with tight fitting legs. Go for high waisted and wide leg to balance you're shape out. Also tuck a little in the top of the jeans, at the front, that then give you a bit of shape and brings in a waist. And the jeans should smooth over any mum pouch.

Ditch the skinny jeans and jeggings, they are really unflattering on top heavy figures, go for proper jeans straight leg or boyfriend style

I would never think of wearing white wide legged trousers but you’re right, it looks much better. I am too heavy and have a big stomach but thin legs and slim
hips. I wear leggings and over sized jumpers a lot. They do me no favours. I prefer boat necked and slash necked jumpers or v necks. It’s hard to find ones they aren’t clingy or boxy though.

MooMa83 · 19/09/2023 11:27

@Neuilly and @Turmerictolly that one's from Freemans...if you google slouchy jumper dress you'll see it. I also find a waterfall cardigan quite flattering.

irisretic · 19/09/2023 11:31

I also have no hips or bum and wear wide leg trousers or straight legged jeans then you can wear pretty much any jumper you like. Skinny jeans, jeggings or leggings look ridiculous on me.

Cheeesus · 19/09/2023 11:33

There’s a sweet spot between covering your tummy and showing your hips. Then you see the narrowness there. Then if you wear some straight or wide legged trousers then you get the balance.

Cheeesus · 19/09/2023 11:36

Thai sort of length.

AntiStuff · 19/09/2023 14:53

To contradict the poster suggesting scarves and waterfall cardigans, both will make you look significantly bigger on top. Avoid at all costs.

I go for wider leg trousers or jeans with a thin knit v-neck jumper or tank top (poss merino), plus interesting jewellery.

Neuilly · 19/09/2023 19:47

Yes agree scarves are my enemy. And I just cannot find a cardigan that doesn’t make me look awful. Also too casual

I sometimes buy mens v neck jumpers, they have a much shallower v

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 19/09/2023 22:31

V neck

Bookist · 20/09/2023 10:20

Mens v neck jumpers are your friend. Shallower V and usually cut straight across at the hem.
