Like many of you perhaps, S and B is often too expensive for me in this climate. I am also not a Shein shopper, though recently become a Tu shopper! However, I think there are still bargains to be had if one hunts, so starting this thread to share them. Please share yours! Preferably cottton or at least viscose if possible.

I am sharing this dress I got from Hush in the sale. Not cotton, but decent quality viscose which hangs well. Looks dull on the model, looks better IRL with accessories. The kind of useful dress that can go to work and then out to dinner. I am 5"7 and a bit, size 10-12, not busty. Louisa Jersey Dress | Midnight | hush (hush-uk.com)

Did you know that Stitchfix UK are closing down but currently offering 70% discount? I got a jumpsuit, two tops, a sweatshirt and a pair of jeans all for under £60.

I'm putting loads of stuff on Vinted at the moment- I'm not suggesting you look at it- but it's cheap, and if you use the filters well you can filter and find some great bargains.

I've recently bought this from Zara, I'm on holiday and have worn it every evening so far. I can see it being an autumn staple for me- fingers crossed it lasts well. I sized up a little.

I also bought this which is a keeper.

Thanks everyone. I definitely don't think anyone who has suggested charity shops or Vinted is a dick😊But it's useful to have links to other stuff too. I absolutely love both those Zara cardies @anon2022anon. Was looking for a stripy one but most weren't right. I will try them on in store.
Will also check Stitchfix.

Also I am definitely not as hard up as most people. Just going to be having a couple of years where I need to watch my spending because two DC in uni and I am in London . I already have good coats, boots, underwear and some cashmere.

So it's the small wardrobe updates that I need to cover, which I think can be done cheaply given I WFH. I have some M and S vouchers to use too. Going to buy their cords, but so many of their jumpers are just pure acrylic which makes me itch a lot. I have those wide leg trousers mentioned upthread. Might buy pricier ones as wide legs are flattering on me.

@CharlotteRumpling you don't have to explain yourself being able to shop if you want 😊
I buy probably 80% of my 'fun stuff' from Vinted now, but I still buy from high street shops. Im trying to explore higher quality brands, but I absolutely can't justify £80 for a new top- I'm not the type of person who lives in the same item and wears it til it falls apart, I like having lots of choice and options. So those nice brands I'll buy from Vinted, and when I need a 'proper shopping' fix I'll hit up TK Maxx, Zara and h&m.

I got some lovely things from TK maxx 2 weeks ago- a nice jumper, a long cardigan and a satin bottle green maxi skirt from Massimo Dutti.

anon2022anon · 21/09/2023 08:06

For the last 2 years I've bought cords from h&m, they're generally £25 which I think.us a lot cheaper than the m&s ones?

Floisme · 21/09/2023 08:16

It doesn't sound like you're after a coat but this from M&S is a rare thing - a smartish looking trench coat with a hood. And in the sales too! Double breasted, not waterproof but works for me in showers and light rain. I've got the green. It's a decent midi length on me, longer than it looks on the model - I'm 5'3.

this cardigan with a bit of a Chanel vibe from M&S has also had a lot of praise on here although I've not seen it in real life.

CharlotteRumpling · 21/09/2023 13:21

Oh @Floisme that trench coat is gorgeous and I would buy it if I hadn't bought a very similar M and S one for less than £40 earlier this year in the January sales. But this one is better as it has a hood. Damn.

That Chanel-esque jacket is also great, and probably just right for an event I haev. I will look at it in store. Thank you.

Brand Alley - it's an online outlet shop. I've just got DD a bunch of shirts for 6th form from there for between £17 and £35. (Her school ask for formal "business dress")I've also purchased bargain casual trainers & the short ugg style boots for DD from them last year as well as homewares & bed linen. It's kind of like TKMaxx really but less of a jumble sale vibe.
