Can anyone in London confirm if something is open?!

I'm terrible. I only come to town sporadically to get my hair cut and bits and bobs

I'm trying to get hold of the Stuart Phillips place in Covent Garden and it's like they've disappeared off the face of the planet

Is anyone nearby or been there lately and confirm they still exist? Or have I let my hair grow so long they've since gone out of business

It's on social media but nothing for the last few years. But that's standard. I don't think it's their forte... thanks

You could check on Companies House to see if they're still operational?

Ladybug14 · 14/09/2023 13:45

Google says its open
Website says to book online

stuartphillips · 14/09/2023 13:45

Ah thanks. Good shout! I've done a few searches but all I've got is the name. If it's under a holding company I've got no chance of finding it.

I've whittled it down to two companies. Neither of which sound right

I was just hoping someone might have been last or something and seen them.

Just annoying they won't answer their phone/emails/messages...!

Thanks. When I go online to book it just says no one's ever available. Like ever. Go to next available appointment and there isn't one!

Which makes me think something else has happened. Either that or their website has died a death. Doesn't explain the phone though.

You could search on Google earth
Find the shop or restaurant next door
Ring them and ask

Google earth isn't up to date though

I could start ringing around. However I was hoping someone local might be able to help.

It isn't up to date, but it's worth a go , surely?

I have done it. I tried that before I posted here.

It shows it open. But from years ago.

Thanks for your help...

Can anyone in London confirm if something is open?!
stuartphillips · 14/09/2023 14:39

@bluebirdsongs ahhh thank you!!! Haha I didn't think to check Instagram. You'd think they'd update their website first...!

Mystery solved. And the hunt for a new hairdresser starts. Thank you!

@stuartphillips I can recommend Brooks and Brooks, not too far away on Great Queen St in Covent Garden. Similar credentials to Stuart Phillips (award winning etc). I've know Jamie and Sally Brooks since they were both Directors at Trevor Sorbie and they're amazing (as well as both of them have won London Hairdresser of the Year many times, and Sally has been British Hairdresser of The Year quite a few times too). They recently took over the Charles Worthington salon (Charles wanted to retire so asked Jamie to take over his business).

So it was on Monmouth Street? Looks like several established businesses are being forced to close.

@HundredMilesAnHour ah thank you. That's amazing. I think I've left it too late for this trip to London but next time...

I'm really fussy with my hair as I'm mixed race. And most hairdressers just don't get it.

I'll definitely check them out next time. My hair will be waist length by then though!

Sarah at Taylor Taylor Portobello Road is an excellent cutter. I’m really picky about my cut and have used her for years. She doesn’t do colour just cuts.
