Looking at possibly buying a pair -

Got some of the flip floppy type years ago but can’t remember if I sized up or down.
Anyone any experience with them ? Also are they comfortable, these actually look quite flat. TIA

I've been eyeing these up too. I have a pair of brown birkenstock ankle boots that I've worn to death. I spend summer in my Birkenstock sandals, then switch to boots when autumn arrives. Really comfortable, if you get on with the sandals. I bought my normal size.

I have these boots and adore them, they're really comfortable. I'm a wide-ish footed size 5 and I'd find them a bit roomy if I wore thin socks, comfortably snug in thick socks.

Monstermunchy · 12/09/2023 15:39

Ohhh they're nice...

I size down in Arizona but don't have the widest feet. I'm usually a 5 in everything but wear a 4 in those.

Here's a link to Birkenstock's own sizing advice, which is a bit different to the usual. In other brands I wear a 37, but a 36 fits me in Birkenstocks (I have boots, shoes, trainers and sandals). Their 'narrow' tends towards usual 'normal' while their 'normal' tends towards usual wide. https://www.birkenstock.com/gb/things-to-know/fit-guide/

I have these and lived in them last winter. I found they come up marginally roomy (but not to the extent I had to go down a size) but that meant I could wear warm socks 😊
Cant wait to dig them out this winter!

I loved their Chelsea boots (wore mine to death and wondering if can get resoled or just too far gone now) and have just bought a pair of the Birmingham lace ups which I love though they are a bit chunkier than the ones you are looking at (which I also considered). I don’t have particular narrow feet but the Birkies narrow fit is definitely not too wide for me. Don’t go for a wide fitting unless you have extremely wide feet. I would say they are on the larger side so if you tend to be between sizes size down.

Spacehopperno1 · 12/09/2023 17:35

I meant narrow fit is not too narrow - agree with poster above who said narrow is more akin to normal. Might be different with your boots though as they look a neater fit.

I have wide feet, so get the standard width but i am size5.5/eu39 in all Birkenstock shoes (arizona/boston/bend) when i'm 6/6.5 in most other brands so they definitely fit a bit big

Charlotteowensdodgydad · 12/09/2023 18:53

@Cbgds87 thanks for that. I’m a 5.5 in Clarks usually and stuck deciding between a 5 or a 6, got a pair of Birkenstock Arizona and I’m a 5 so will definitely try the 5s now.

Hi. I just got a pair. They are very wide and roomy and the footbed is great. They are beautifully made and look really robust. I normally take 38 regular in Birkenstocks and got the same in the boots, and they are a similar fit to the Arizonas. However the leather is extremely stiff, almost like cardboard. Don't expect to wear them out right away, as mine are taking 1-2 weeks to break in before that stage. Also lots of bargains on Ebay and Vinted, if you are prepared to get some that someone else has tried on. Mine were £150 ON Vinted.

W0tnow · 27/10/2023 08:06

I bought these ones last year as they are wider at the toe. I’d broken my pinkie and couldn’t wear any other shoes. I made the mistake of wearing just foot socks and got a blister half way up my Achilles which took ages to heal. Wear longer slightly think socks and you should be fine. I wear mine now with those socks that are made from tights fabric. I really like them. 👍. I tried mine on in-store which I would recommend if you can.

HampshireBelle · 10/12/2023 19:22

My lesson learned is to use the sizing guide to find the right size and width. Decide what socks are going to be worn.

A good choice if you need a boot that is never going to tire your feet from the moment they’re tied up to the moment they’re taken off. I wear mine from 0730 - 0630: 4 x 15 minutes walking to and from a rail station and then desk bound in an office.

The rear heel upper was a little stiff for the first few days but we’ve now settled in with each other.

Very comfortable: ankle well-supported and good grip on cold wet pavements.

SgtBilko · 10/12/2023 19:27

I’ve just bought these and have been wearing them in today and find them very comfortable so far. I take my normal size but wear with big socks. I may get an insole as well as they are roomy but know from experience I can’t go down in size because the footbed fits well.
