OPI Repair Mode Serum for Nails

LadyEloise1 · 09/09/2023 20:17

Has anyone tried this ?
My nails are soft and peeling. I have been on biotin for 6 months to try and improve them, I also take calcium, collagen and hyaluronic acid. And cod liver oil when I remember.
All to no avail.

I'd love to try the OPI but it's very expensive- €40 in Boots Ireland for a small bottle Shock
If you've tried it what do you think ?

I haven't used the serum but normal OPI Nail Envy (the sensitive&peeking version) sorted out my peeling nails.

Thank you.

I found that Nailtiques formula 2 was much better than OPI for my peeling nails. And it’s finally available to buy again after a looooong time.

BeretRaspberry · 19/09/2023 14:42

You won’t need anything like that. Just normal oil will be best. Jojoba is the best but grapeseed, almond and even sunflower oil are suitable. Use it regularly throughout the day but also as a warm oil soak.

Check out TheSalonLife on YouTube for some cheap solutions for natural nails - she recommends the warm oil soaks and my nails have totally stopped peeling after years like this picture. I’m trying to get a pic of the after but I can’t get a decent one!!

OPI nail envy dried out my nails more, making the peeling worse :(, in my case washing dishes bathrooms etc solvent is the culprit and yes I need to use oil more often.

Darklane · 19/09/2023 14:59

I got some when it first came out & was on offer. Used it religiously since then but found it’s made no difference at all to my nails, they still break from the side below the quick, painful, then catch & peel. Going back to using Nailtiques, as someone else recommended, now that it’s back to a reasonable price again, went bonkers for a time,as it’s the only thing that really helped.

LadyEloise1 · 19/09/2023 16:12

@BeretRaspberry My nails are peeling like that.
I wonder what causes it ?
Is the nail polish I wear every day having a drying effect?
My nails are very yellow too.
I don't use a base coat 🙈

Repair mode is amazing, nail envy made my nails peel more and they were like paper. I started using repair mode when it came out and use it daily, one coat.

It absorbs into the nail, it isn’t a Polish.

My nails are transformed. Probably taken 3 months but it’s worked, they are really strong and no peeling. I’m almost at the end of the bottle. I started using it beginning of July.

BeretRaspberry · 19/09/2023 18:02

From what I’ve learned from the lady on the YouTube channel, all nail polishes can cause yellowing. Ones with a lot of pigment cause staining with the colour itself and then most polishes contain an ingredient called nitrocellulose - which is a film forming ingredient - and that can lead to yellowing too.

As for the peeling, I can’t remember exactly what she said causes it but it can be lots of things together. The reason she suggests oil, and in particular jojoba, is because it has small molecules. Those molecules are then able to get between the layers of the nail and this helps plasticise it…so it becomes flexible without breaking.

She has a couple of videos on peeling but here is one for now and I’ll see if I can find any more.

I recommend the Margaret Dabbs nail and cuticle serum. Really helps to strengthen nails.

NiceUnusualDifferent · 19/09/2023 19:35

Sounds a bit like cnd rescue rx which is excellent and much better priced.
For peeling absolutely nothing beats nailtiques formula 2

BeretRaspberry · 19/09/2023 19:37

I also use the CND Rescue Rx at night with some Kerasal ointment on the skin around my nails too.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/09/2023 07:54

Unfortunately nailtiques ceased trading in 2019 when they were hit by the hurricanes. The whole plant was destroyed. I used nailtiques in my salon. Nothing came close to it.

Now I use OPI. Repair mode has made a difference to my nails as I mentioned ⬆️⬆️⬆️

Unfortunately it’s not nailtiques. There’s always some grey market goods on offer on Amazon.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 20/09/2023 09:14

Does it make any difference to vertically ridged nails?

According to their website they’re making/selling it?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/09/2023 11:26

Believe me, if they were I’d have it in my salon. I’ve looked into that website before.

8lue8irds · 20/09/2023 11:38

Sorry, I've not read every reply on this post, but I saw an Instagram accident the other day where the lady rubbed bepanthen into her nails every day and they grew like a dream. I might give it a go.

Frieda12 · 20/09/2023 18:34

I am very tempted to try it but the cost put me off so I’m using Superdrug Hydrate nail treatment and their Smooth nail and cuticle cream and in tandem they’ve made a difference to my peeling nails

LadyEloise1 · 31/10/2023 18:01

I succumbed to the marketing and bought a bottle.

I have seen a small improvement but nothing major. For almost €40 on a nail product I was expecting a miracle. It hasn't happened yet.

OP posts:
LadyEloise1 · 07/11/2023 10:32

The surface of the nail feels smoother but ridges are still visible.
They haven't grown much and they have split / broken too.
Would I have bought it if the results are as they are now ?
In other words was it worth the €40 ?

Not so far Sad
