Sandals for bad knee and ankle

12 replies

Merryoldgoat · 07/09/2023 20:26

Work have stopped us wearing flip flops which I’m very upset about. Well. Mildly irritated.

I need some sandals that are very comfortable as I have torn cartilage in my knee and damaged ankle so need them to be reasonably attractive, supportive, not beachy.

Any ideas?

Saltwater boardwalks - thicker comfy sole, look good, so comfy. I have knee issues too and have worn mine all summer with no problems.

Birkenstocks allowed?

Fitflops were awful for my knee-pronate badly and they made it worse

Merryoldgoat · 08/09/2023 15:23

@MrsMitford3

No Birkenstocks unfortunately.

Thank you for the ideas. I’ll have a good google over the weekend.

Are you allowed Birkenstocks with an ankle strap? I'm thinking of trying some myself as sore feet / ankles much improved by wearing my Tevas sandals, but they rub if I wear them too much.

Sadik · 08/09/2023 15:41

I've been looking at the MIlano & the Tulum (they're ££ though!)

Merryoldgoat · 08/09/2023 18:14

@Sadik

Possibly. I’ll see what the consensus is.

Shame about the Birkenstock. I just bought myself the two straps ones, they’re very orthopaedic looking but that seems to be the shoe consensus these days - however my back seems to be thanking me! I’ve lived too long in trainers I think 😂

There are plenty of supporting sandals that have ankle straps. Try Teva. Sorel, Clarks "Kitley". Or any type of fisherman style, they usually have toes covered.

I found moshulu thanks to Mumsnet. I now have several pairs of sandals, all very comfortable but these Souks are the best
