to paint my kithcen cupboard.

This is a SERIOUS, DESPERATE request.

They are a yuk vanilla.

Have decided against white, yellow, aubergine and blue.

It's taken me 6 months to get this far.

I'm threatening DP with black or red atm.

How big is your kitchen? What style are the doors? What sort of work surface do you have? What colour do you have/want on the walls? What colour do you have/want on the floor?

brimfull · 03/03/2008 09:45

sludgy mud colour
no idea what it's called though

or aubergine

purplemonkeydishwasher · 03/03/2008 09:46

cremolafoam · 03/03/2008 09:46

pale dove grey

brimfull · 03/03/2008 09:46

oh I thought you were talking about just one cupboard.
Probably not aubergine for whole raft of cupboards then.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 03/03/2008 09:50

nice green

brimfull · 03/03/2008 09:51

oooh yes I think purplemonkey's green is the nicest so far

cremolafoam · 03/03/2008 09:53

yes i agree that gree is lovely.
butit really depends on keeping the rest of the room neutral.that green will be quite a strong statement

LynetteScavo · 03/03/2008 09:59

The walls will be painted magnolia, unless I have some will inspiration, The floor tiles are um... beige, and I think the wall tiles will probably be beigge too. (stone?)

It's not a massive kithen, (a breakfast kitchen?) We do eat in there, and the cupboards are only around two sides of the room. They are very plain /flat uninteresting doors.

I've ruled out aubergine as we have a red theme going on in the rest of the house. (Think red sofas, laura ashley buxton check red curtains in dining room)

I think that farrow and ball green might be a bit light absorbing.

cremolafoam · 03/03/2008 10:00

quite nice

LynetteScavo · 03/03/2008 10:02

Not bad - the floor and work top is very similar!

brimfull · 03/03/2008 10:04

duck egg blue

cremolafoam · 03/03/2008 10:04

if you can get the right green it would be nice with red.pick up with red accessories for a 50's diner feel maybe

LynetteScavo · 03/03/2008 10:34

duck egg blue has been ruled out; that was our original idea, we tried it on one cupbaord and for some reason it's just wrong.

Cremolafoam, I really think you are on to something there...you make it sound fab.

Off to investigate greens.
