Hair styling product to hold waves for longer

I’m finally getting the hang of putting a wave in my hair with straighteners. What can I use to hold it for longer that won’t be sticky or crunchy?

Have you tried hair mousse?

Not recently as I always found it made my hair crispy but I’d give it another go. Is there one you’d recommend?

I have what I call messy hair, its not wavy or straight really. I was recommended the Tresemme day 2 foam. I scrunch it in on dry hair, and get lovely curls. Its a bit crunchy when it dries but I just give it another scrunch and ruffle and the crunchiness goes and no frizz!. I got it at home bargains, not seen it anywhere else yet, but bought a couple to keep me going.
