One of "those" photos

NC for this. I was out over the bank holiday and I've just caught sight of one of the pictures taken. It was one of those "oh god who is that, surely not me?!" photos 😢 I thought I looked alright when I left the house but evidently not!
Can anyone give me any pointers for where I'm going wrong or how I can learn what the hell to wear? I think I've always just muddled along and it's really starting to show.
Basic info: mid thirties, 5'6", approx size 12, smallish bust and bigger hips (pear shaped?). Dark hair, pale skin, green eyes. Never had my colours done.
The difficult bit: I'm freelance and finished work in July, haven't got anything else on the horizon (gulp). So I do not have money to throw at this problem - yet. Nor do I have much of an identity that I need to dress for, think school runs, bit of gardening, housework, decluttering. Occasional meal/day out.
Live in skinny or straight jeans or leggings with vests, shirts, jumpers. Superstars or Birkenstocks on my feet.
The "problem" outfit was trainers, skinnies, a vest with a cropped jumper over the top. I think it was the shape of my shoulders/bust that ruined it, and my hairdo was doing me absolutely no favours. My wardrobe is varied, I'm sure I could pull some outfits together with a little wisdom 🙏

So I suggest getting into fitness. Running, walking, YouTube videos, yoga, body weight exercises, free weights. Whatever you can do. When you feel body confident you stand better, you hold yourself better, you're happier in just about anything. 🙂

Other than that curate your wardrobe a bit. Sort into colours, tops, bottoms. Try new combinations. Photograph them. See what your favourites are.

Oh and iron stuff. Puts shape back into it. Clean and polish shoes/leather trainers, brush off suede shoes.

Dyeing jeans and any faded cotton items can give them a new life as well.

Thanks @meanderingbrook there's loads of food for thought there. I'm working on a bit of self-acceptance but having scrutinized the photo a bit more I can see my posture is atrocious. I've got a bad back and it was starting to hurt but I find I tend to feel awkward in photos and it shows. A little yoga may go a long way!

I'm quite good at ironing things before they go away but pulling everything out and putting ideas together is a good one. I'd like to get into Vinted for buying and selling but my first experience with it wasn't great! I have so many clothes that are fine but just not me.

Sounds fab @RenegadeMister! Yoga will definitely improve your posture & should help strengthen your back. Vinted is great for getting rid of clothes you no longer want and with the proceeds you will be able to get things more suitable in terms of what you feel suits you better currently. 🙂
