Help me prep for a very expensive hotel stay

Next week I'm staying for 1 night, with dinner, in a London hotel. The bill for this 1 night is £1232...dinner to yet be paid for 😳

I'm a Premier Inn girl. A Primarni girl. A Tesco gym kit girl.

How on earth do I look like I fit in there?
What do you suggest I take to wear for dinner?
Will my Tesco gym kit be noticeable in the gym? At least I've got ASICS trainers, although they are rather well used!

I'm not going to be spending a fortune to dress for this... I'm looking for ideas of staples that I'll probably have that will look like I belong in that price bracket. And reassurance that my Tesco gym kit will be fine!

All tips very very welcome! TIA.

It's a hotel, no one will care. Just check if there's a dress code for dinner.

Enjoy!!!!

It's a hotel, you will probably be the best dressed there! Have a wonderful night!

Wow! Claridges? The Dorchester?
I hope you have an amazing stay!

Gym kit will be perfect.

wear something you love and feel good in, nothing feels or looks as expensive as confidence and ease.

It's a high end hotel, the staff would feel it was a failure if they hadn't made you feel like the most important guest.

I can guarantee that 99% of looking like you fit in is attitude and not clothes.

If you walk in like you do this every week, you will be there.

The main restaurant in hotels like the Ritz have a dress code so if this is the kind of place you are going to have a quick look online to check.

But really, in the politest way possible, only you (and your date?) will take any notice of what you're wearing Smile have lots of fun

Can't go wrong with a black dress for dinner. Can you splash out for a blow dry at the hotel?
I feel fresh hair gives a more 'fitting in' luxury vibe than a face of make up etc
Walk in with confidence (so wear shoes you won't stumble in), smile because you belong there. No imposter syndrome over here.

The secret to looking like you have lots of money honestly is to dress the opposite of what you think rich looks like. Nothing flashy. The truly rich dress very unassumingly, jeans, jumpers kind of thing. Agree a good blow dry will work wonders for your confidence!

Well, that's a resounding thank you from me, you lovely people.

I hoped that's what you'd say tbh. Deep down, I knew it was a confidence thing, but oh my life, when faced with it, you doubt yourself. And then you glance at the heels you love to wear that are a little scraped and worn looking, and think I can't wear those in a place like that.

My date can be a little anxious. He's already asked what I'm going to be wearing for dinner, as he wants to gauge what he's taking for himself.

As much as I appreciate the tip, I have never paid to get a blow dry only in my life, and I'm not starting now in the swankiest hotel I've ever stayed in!

I went to a fancy hotel and dinner and I wore.

black leather midi skirt, black polo neck top with the sleeves pushed up. Hair up. Neutral lips and a muted Smokey eye. I wore little boots and took a small clutch.

to check in I wore hush joggers and a cashmere crew neck. Joggers so I wouldn’t have any lines whne I had my bikini on in the pool.

This.

We’ve been to some really expensive hotels, both UK and overseas, and most of the guests look very ordinary. No designer clothes, and really scruffy trainers 😱. If it’s just one night, just pack a small range of clothes, and see how dressy it seems. Or let us all know which hotel and restaurant it is, some of us will probably have been there.

The best way to fit in is to have good manners.
