I'm in a 'jeans are safe' funk - help!

I want to wear jeans less. They've become my uniform, my safe, reliable with pockets uniform. Along with breastfeeding tops at the minute (smallshow from Amazon), it's all I wear. I used to wear Boden, Joules, H&M, Fat Face, White Stuff, Next, etc etc.

I've just splurged on dresses though, some nursing ones (Juno Jacks Florence) and some in the sale at White Stuff that should hopefully be accessible for breastfeeding (button down, shirt dress or wrap dress style). I love White Stuff.

But I don't feel safe in any of these dresses like I do in jeans (or denim shorts if it's hot). I'm happy with the dresses, I think they suit me, I just don't feel safe. I can't think of a better way of describing it!

Yesterday I started wearing one dress, then stuck my jeans back on to go out and meet my sibling with our kids! Back to safety.

I used to be an 8-10, now I'm pretty much a 10 occasional 12 depending on brand/fit.

Am I missing a trick that will help me feel, idk less exposed perhaps? I thought it might be jewellery, used to wear some all the time! So I've resumed wearing my lovely bracelets and earrings. But something still doesn't feel quite right.

Help!

I think it’s just a case of putting a dress on and going out in it. It might feel like a ‘risk’ or you might think that people are looking at you in some way but people will be busy with their own lives.

Jeans are ubiquitous whilst dresses feel more out there.

My advice is to be brave. Dresses are a lot more everyday nowadays and not just worn for best. I braved The Dress a few years ago, and feel better for it. So if I’m going to the pub, I’ll pop on a dress, for example. At first, you do feel a little self conscious, but overtime, that goes, especially when you realise that lots of people now wear dresses, all year round.

Trouble is I used to wear dresses a lot without a care! So I really don't know where this has come from 😔

I'm trying the middle ground today, my Bibico black cotton button down midi skirt (with pockets).
