I'm 5ft 3, I'm a size 18, I'm 39
I need to lose weight but it's not going quickly and I need new trousers or jeans.
I detest shopping for trousers so much. I hate having to try on countless pairs and the upset that comes with it because it's so bloody hard to find some nice bottoms that fit nicely. That don't make me look old.
That don't give me a muffin top, that I don't need to have taken up 🤦🏻‍♀️
I know I'm not unreasonable because I know I'm not the only lady to have this issue!
Can anyone help make any suggestions? I need something for day to day. Jeans or trousers. Ideally that can be worn casually but dressed up to be smarter to.
Please help! Before I end up going out in my pants 😂

Where have you been shopping? Just to eliminate those shops.

Fantina · 23/08/2023 17:20

I’ve recently realised that Dorothy Perkins is still selling online, I always found their plus size petite range v good

Youdoyoutoday · 23/08/2023 17:21

I feel your pain!! My menopause belly just makes me look frumpy in everything, it's so annoying!!

Bigpinkslippers · 23/08/2023 17:45

I recently bought some Magic trousers, look surprisingly good. Got them from a local small retailer but think you can get them on amazon too.
They're stretchy cotton pull on trousers,

@Bigpinkslippers I came here to say magic trousers too. Definitely fit into the can be smart or casual category. They’re flattering and the length should be fine for you, most of them are cropped on me and I’m 5ft6, hope this helps.

Me to and 2 pairs have both come apart at the seams.
This is why I'm desperate 😂
They are really comfy but the last pair literally started splitting in under a month!

I have only looked online so far, haven't headed to the shops yet as I don't get paid till Friday! X

Im 5'4 and size 16. I ended up buying jeans from M&S because i need to try them on, however I understand that they have increased all the leg lengths so my perfectly fitting short may now be too long 🙈

Summerhillsquare · 23/08/2023 18:43

Ask to get this moved to style & beauty. But Marks and Spencer is a good call. Or one of those Kurt Muller type boutiques that have magic trousers. They have lots of floaty ones usually.

Thank you, I looked for a category but totally missed that one! X

Bon marche have leg lengths starting at 26 and go up to a Size 22. They stock straight, boot cut and skinny leg jeans. Most of their jeans elastic on the waist as well as a button and zip.

Screamingabdabz · 23/08/2023 19:05

I’m similar proportions to you op and I love Tesco F&F jeans - Just the right amount of stretch and support and they come in different lengths. Good value too.

I recently had some success with Stitch Dix

indyocean · 23/08/2023 20:23

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 23/08/2023 20:26

DH has had loads of success with Stitch Fix! I've been very impressed.

FuckMeSidewaysAndCallMeBarbara · 23/08/2023 20:40

I'm exactly the same height and size and I've got various pairs of the H&M cigarette trousers. They are just the right length and come in loads of different colours. Can be dressed up or down.

Just to add, they come up very small so you have to go up 2 sizes. I buy them in a 22.

My best fitting jeans were picked out by a personal shopper at John Lewis, and leggings by stitch fix. I don’t have much luck picking things myself!

bladebladebla1 · 24/08/2023 07:49

Could you treat yourself to a personal shopper just as a one off? Or use that stitch fix I think it's called, as they take all your measurements and then send looks that work with the figure

bladebladebla1 · 24/08/2023 07:50

Sorry just realised someone else has mentioned this already

strawberry2017 · 24/08/2023 10:02

I've never heard of stitch fix, I'll have a look at that once the kids are occupied.
I'll look at the trousers/shops suggested too! Thank you

M&S short length could work on you?

Absolutely with you on hating what I try on too.

Currently in between sizes, but have found matalan Rosie jeggings to be super comfortable, versatile and I can dress them up and down if I need to. I have also found them to be quite hugging on my tummy too, I’m in the throes of loosing weight, it’s a slow process, but making diet changes, more exercise has really helped too.

I hope you manage to find what you’re looking for.
