How the heck do you get it off?

https://www.karenmillen.com/tiger-printed-drama-kimono-woven-jumpsuit/BKK10042.html

No zips, not quite enough stretch to easily get in or out. I managed to just about get into it, but DD (8) had to help me get out of it, and I was close to giving up and cutting it off.

Is there a special knack?! I love it and don't really want to return it, but I can't imagine going out in it and not going toilet all night, or trying to take it off by myself. Is this a known issue?

Surely you undo the thing at the front and it comes off your shoulders? 🤨

OopsItsAPony · 23/08/2023 20:26

I’m guessing it’s a major issue and loads of people have sent it back, hence the massive reduction.

There's not enough give in the fabric, not enough space to easily get in or out. I've actually now cut a tiny opening at the front, down to the waistline where they've put the tie bit, but still needed DD to help me get it off. I think I'm going to take it to a tailor to get a proper cut out in, maybe with a little fastening. It's easily covered with the scarfy thing.

Good point! I only bought it heavily reduced, seems an ok price to now pay for someone to put a zip in, as apart from not being able to get out of it without help, I do love how it looks.

To add, I don't want to get the next size up as it would swamp me. It's solely getting in and out of it that is impossible without help. Once on, it's a lovely fit.

Does the tie bit not untie?

Yes, but there's not enough stretch in the shoulder area to easily get it off. It's really hard to get into. I don't know how they've sold it like this, surely it would pass through testing.

I realised after I posted that that was a dim question.

Sorry there is something quite amusing about being stuck in a tiger face jumpsuit.

You're right about needing professional intervention. A dress maker could extend the cut and put hook and eye fittings to close it. If she puts them close enough together there shouldn't be any gaping; or she could add a strip of black cotton at the "eye" side so that any small gaps would just be a black background which wouldn't be noticed against the pattern.

Haha, I welcome the input. It's such a shame it has this obvious flaw. But yes, I think I'll take it along somewhere and see if they can sort me with a little room spare to allow me to get in and out of it with no stress/assistance from my child.

Where the scarf falls, you'd not see any gaping anyway. I'll see what they say.

I know it's quite an out-there print, but I really love it.

Are you sure there isn't an invisible zip down the inside ?

I work in next and loads of people seem oblivious to them shouting at me that it's badly made etc .

If you turn it inside out it might be down the rib cage edge hidden under the material

BeverlyBrook · 24/08/2023 07:10

I guarantee you there is an invisible zip on one of the sides!

Put the jumpsuit inside out. Feel around all the seams in the top, I bet you will find a zip

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 24/08/2023 07:33

Oooh I have a wetsuit I couldn't get off for similar reasons. It works perfectly if I wear it back to front through.

I’ve looked, several times in case I was being dumb before. I cannot find any zip or buttons or anything.
This is why I asked on here, in case anyone knew for sure.

I wish. I’ve done this several times - looked as well as felt around. Nothing.

This is my problem with jumpsuits. I love the way they look but why oh why is there a zip up the back. I can't put it on without help and going to the loo is impossible also.

Avatartar · 24/08/2023 10:54

Can you try some yoga to get more flexibility to get in and out of it?

I have one perfect jumpsuit, it has enough elasticity to get it easily on and off.
This one has a tiny bit of elastic at the back waist area only. Rubbish. I will not be able to go toilet in it on a night out, the fabric will drape all over the floor even if I could get it off.

I admittedly could do with trimming down a little bit, and I'm not as flexible as I once was, but you'd need to be a size smaller than the outfit to get into it, then once in, it would hang too loose. I'll definitely do more yoga, but I think taking it to a sewing person is probably my best bet.

I know. Still hoping someone else here has bought it and there is a secret zip somewhere after all, and I'm just an idiot who can't dress herself.

I have this problem with a White Stuff playsuit. No fastening on it, and no give in the fabric.

I have to shimmy both shoulders off simultaneously, there's no way I can get one arm out and then the other. I cross my arms over at the front, grasp the right sleeve with my left hand and vice versa.

I just don't understand how it got through testing, or even for the model on the website. I tried both shoulders at the same time. Didn't work for me. I have to edge one shoulder out having bent my elbow back first, then my daughter helps peel the fabric over my shoulder. I absolutely can't do it solo.
