Going to a work event soon. It's somewhat of a summit with business people and political/ government figures. The subject matter is serious and the audience is very international. Weather will be fairly chilly but we'll be inside the whole time. I'll be there for 3-4 days so need a few outfits and I'm struggling as in my day to day I'm either in leggings or jeans.

Hit me with your fav brands for naice business clothes- not necessarily tailoring but well put together professional clothes. Size 16.

Budget is flexible-ish but don't want to spend thousands for a few items I'll not wear again.

The Fold is the clear winner here. Runners up are Me & Em and Winser.

Maybe you could hire stuff, once you’ve got an idea what you’re after?

Studio Nicholson is a bit less conservative - the clothes are more easily incorporated into a casual day to day wardrobe - but they’re lovely things to wear.

If you like dresses Max Mara is a good option. They have a reasonable sale on at the moment. Their cotton poplin dresses , plain or printed, should do the trick and be easy to wear for other things. I think that's easier than trying to get separates sorted out. If you're indoors you won't need a jacket over them.
