Smart black work shoes that are also easy to cycle in

I've been searching for some smart black shoes, flats/low heel, that I can also comfortably cycle to work in. It's about 3.5 miles and there is a hill at the end. I've been going in trainers and changing shoes when I get in but it's all a bit of a faff.

I was looking at Mary-Jane style shoes, or ones with straps to avoid the shoes falling off my feet. Need a sizable sole so I can put enough pressure on the pedals without hurting my feet. Preferably leather/waterproof enough that I won't get completely drenched if it's raining.

Can anyone help?

Tracey Neuls designed Geek shoes as shoes you can cycle in. They're normal shoes and super comfy but also great on a bike. I have various pairs in different colours (colours change each season or two).

I find Clark's brogues very comfortable. But can you really not change your shoes at work? I keep shoes in my desk drawer. Why is it a faff? I've known colleagues who cycle in to fully change clothes and have a shower before they start work.

Agree but look on Vinted as you'll get some much cheaper!

Personally I’d upgrade the pedals to cleats and swap shoes when I got to work. You get a much better power transfer with cleats so will go faster for less effort.

Alternatively, I like Kickers for work. I have some T Bar Mary Jane style that would be perfect. I have my eye on the Kariko style next which look a bit more flexible/sporty.

@asosStalker I actually have dual pedals with cleats on one side but I'm not a good/confident enough cyclist to reliably get my feet out when I'm stopped to prevent a comedy fall!

Thank you so much for the suggestions, I'm also very tempted by the doc martens. I know it's probably better to stick with what I'm doing and change shoes when I get into work but I'm getting increasingly lazy and resent carting around work shoes which take up space in my bag... I know I should get a bigger bag 😂
