Cappuccino · 29/02/2008 10:26

it is too short

with leggings

and hennaed hair

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/02/2008 10:29

Mid calf. Nobody should EVER wear this length, no matter what Grazia says, it makes the best legs look dumpy.

And dead on the knee is no good either. Either just below the knee, or a good inch or two above it. Nobody's knees are pretty, you don't need to highlight them.

Cappuccino · 29/02/2008 10:32

below knee?

oh crap

if you're knocking 40 you can't be dancing around with your knobbly knees on show

Twiglett · 29/02/2008 10:32

how far below knee though? when does it start being ok beyond knee

what about on knee? slightly above knee?

I think it all depends on skirt

sexy pencil skirt is fine if tight if it comes in with legs

A line patterned skirt like White Stuff fine

I got a great black A line skirt from Gap at weekend, just covers knee, it is sexy secretary fab

straight tube skirt in woolly fabric below knee - no

Twiglett · 29/02/2008 10:38

what about above below calf but above ankle or long?

I am really confused at this arbitrary 'mumsy' definition

I have a friend who looks fab in long skirts

I don't

honestly it is all rubbish just go for what suits you

ask dh he will tell you unless he is scared of you

Have never worn a long skirt in my life as I am so tall they always end up mid calf and I look like a frumpy school marm.

Exception to this was when DP bought me a maxi dress last summer which reached to the floor, even when I had platform wedges on. Trouble was I kept standing in the hem and tripping myself up, stopped wearing it when i got caught up in the dress whilst climbing some stairs and fell down in a tangled heap (I challenge Audrey Hepburn in the elegance stakes, me)

Twiglett · 29/02/2008 10:56

I always though mid-calf was mumsy tbh
