I've just cut my hair super short.. help me restyle myself!

I've gone from nearly waistlength last year, to shoulder, to a very boring bob...and thought fuck it, walked into my hairdressers and had it pixie cut (with a longish fringe).
I'm not sobbing into my gin yet, so that's a good sign, but it does mean I feel I need to revamp my whole look... or non look, might be more accurate!

I'm tall and slim, mid 50s (a bit wrinkly), now short hair with a nose piercing (ring) and usually live in skinnies and a linen shirt. Or harem pants if it's hot. No style!
I like the swedish 'lagenlook' type layering but haven't a huge budget... more Next than designer Grin
Can anyone help me out here? I like loose/v neck tops and shirts, and linen/cotton. I can't bear the feel of viscose etc. I NEVER wear dresses (not practical for my job or the Granny care I do).
Any and all suggestions of where to look, I'll be grateful!

I don't know about clothes but whenever I have a short haircut I ramp up the eye make-up for some reason.

Earrings.

I have a pixi and agree with eye makeup and earrings.

had to google lagenlook but I don’t see that style as being an issue for a pixie cut. My experience is that I struggle with things that are too feminine/girly/fussy (florals!) or on the other end crew neck T-shirts and jumpers are too severe as I need to show some of my chest/shoulders.
Re clothes you might have some joy with Cos for basic cotton v neck Ts. Also look at Freepeople for some more of the wafty layered stuff. You have to filter out the mad expensive stuff and monitor the sales because they do amazing discounts.

Definitely statement earrings

What about jumpsuits or dungarees?! I've got quite the selection from Vinted Grin

Sonolanona · 19/08/2023 10:18

I love dungarees but am a bit afraid I'll look like a left over from 'Playaway' (showing my age). I can definitely find some earrings.
I have woken up with severe hair regret today (again..WHY do I never learn?) I want my hair back! I feel like a haggard ugly bloke! Hopefully in a few weeks it will look less severe but I'm dreading going back to work (school) and hearing 'Oh you've had your hair cut... it's..different'!
I'll take a look at Freepeople , thanks.
Keep any suggestions coming, while I hide under a hat Grin

Hi OP I cut my hair short 18 months ago after growing it to discover it was thin and wispy. I’m not particularly a “girly girly” but it does change the way certain necklines look. ( for the record I don’t do lagenlook). I was a bit influenced by the designer Karen Walker when I had mine done but it’s actually more a Michelle Williams cut I have and I’m also blonde ( aged 53) I suit a strong slash neckline on a top or anything with a shirt collar or revere. So I’d suggest trying on a bunch of tops with different necklines to see how they feel. I like men’s shirts ( thrifted ) tucked into wide legged trousers. A shirt undone over a vest top works although I sometimes button up the top ones and leave the bottom ones undone. If the neckline is making you feel weird you can help out with earrings or a necklace …. Even a short thin chain can change the feel. I like blazers which are easy to pick up in charity shops… I just bought a men’s grey tweed yesterday.
Another benefit is that big trendy framed glasses look really good. I picked up some clear glass ones that people always ask about that I wear with red lipstick. When it gets colder I have a black polo neck waiting which will look great with some slouchy jeans and trainers or big boots.
My final suggestion is to look at scarves …. I just picked up a small square black and cream Scarf to wear with shirts and blazers as a “ kerchief” but your look might suit a different style.

( it’s definitely a adjustment and there are times when I’d like to look a little bit more classically sexy but mostly I like being different )
