Which hair colour would you say this is?

I stopped dying my hair about a year and a half ago, after over 10 years of highlighting my hair blonde.

the colour has almost grown out, but there are still some blonde bits left at the end.

I am tempted to try and apply a semi permanent cover to my hair, seeing as I’ve got a bit of a two-tone effect going on - just while the cover fully grows out. But I’m not really sure which colour to ask for!

How would you define this shade of brown?

Dark brown/brunette. I like the highlights.

Don't dye it as you'll have to wait for grow out all over again.

I'd go to a boots and match your hair to a box and then that's the colour :)

Brown with blonde highlights? It's not romantic but it's what I see. It's nice if that helps.

I wouldn't say it's dark enough for dark brown.

That is absolutely not a dark or even a medium brown. If you're going for a box dye, you should be looking at dark blonde (in the 7 number range) and thinking about whether you want gold or ash in there. I have a dark blonde on my roots and it's darker than your roots so be careful! Don't go too dark.

You could get a toner put over the whole lot in the hairdresser to take the light blonde bits down - that might look nice and would fade out more naturally.

I don't think you need to do anything. My hair is kind of like that naturally, I have never dyed it. It looks like it has blonde highlights at times and is just multiple different shades all over. I often get complimented on it!

You know you've dyed it so you see it as being unnatural and needing fixing, but objectively looking at the picture there is nothing wrong with it. I think it looks lovely!
