Leather jacket sizing - advice please

My teen dd wants to buy a leather jacket and has been looking at some on Vinted. She is looking at classic biker styles and allsaints in particular. I think in general they are quite snug? Is that right?

She is usually a size 8 and reasonably tall but with quite muscular shoulders. On the allsaints website it said the model was wearing a size 10 - which would mean dd should get 12 if she doesn’t want a tight fit. Which seems rather large…

I know the best thing to do would be to try go and try some on but it might be a while before we get a chance to get to the shops.

I would size up. For that price you want to be wearing it for the rest of your life! You can still exchange I believe if it doesnt fit right.

Difficult one. When I bought mine in All Saints the sales assistant advised me to go on the smaller side (of the two I was trying on) as with wear the leather will give. I think a size 12 preworn would be too big for your size 8 DD.

I have one. I wear an 8 and it's a 10, and I can wear a hoodie underneath it comfortably - however, I do have very small shoulders and no boobs!

Having bought and resold multiple leather jackets in Vinted in the Quest to find the perfect fit, I'd recommend asking the seller for measurements.

I'm a tall size 10 with broad shoulders and I ended up with a medium from AllSaints which is fairly short and fitted. But it probably depends a lot on the year and the style.

I bought a leather AS bomber from a charity shop. It was labelled a small in the shop but by the label it’s a 12 and is a good fit by which I mean not too big and not too small ( and no use to you). I am an 8. I would suggest going in to AS and trying a jacket on in a similar size to what she is looking for. They also have a sale on at moment on their website which includes leather jackets

I have several leather jackets, including one from AS and I always size up. I have broad shoulders, but also even though the leather will give, the lining might not (and it's usually polyester) so it's kind of a moot point.

Depends also how she wants to wear it - I have one which is more snug which I wear with t-shorts, and another one which I wear with knitwear.

Thank you all - that’s helpful. I think we will go and try some on!
