What nail polish with gold stay sandals?

Going to a posh event. Bought some metallic gold sandals to wear. I usually wear red/ orange red toe polish but think it is a bit much with the shoes and may clash with my dress.

What nail polish is best with gold sandals? If relevant, I am tanned.

I think I'd go clear, it still looks polished and goes with anything. I've had mine clear all summer this year and felt smart but without having to think about matching colour to outfits.

Yes, I was thinking of a natural tone, maybe with a creamy undertone rather than pinky. Otherwise I was thinking of a bronze brown metallic colour?

I've been using Essie Hard to Resist which is clear with a hint of pink, it doesn't look pink on at all though. I haven't seen anything similar in a brown/cream tint but Essie do have lots of good neutrals. Bronze might be fine if its dark enough to have a contrast with the sandals but some shades might be too close in colour.
