Young fashion making me smile

I'm sitting on a bench as my son is asleep in the pram, just observing the fashion of young-uns (20 and under).

80% of those who have passed me are wearing large grey jogging bottoms, a small tight vest, long straight hair and... Crocs with socks on! Oh and minimal make up.

It's so different to what I wore in my teen years!

Is this the fashion where you are? - for reference I'm in North London.

Same around here, quite 90s!
But with no bras.
Lots of crop tops, vests, hipster baggy jeans, cargo pants coming back in.

When I was 16 it was the tighter the better with a g-string showing! (The Britney days)

I'm eagerly awaiting jeans dragging along the floor with the holes getting bigger and more bedraggled by the day to get back in... my grandmothers face!

Today I saw a girl in the tightest flesh coloured bodystocking (if that’s the right word - a one price which is as tight as leggings all over). Looked like Morph

18yo niece definitely has the teeny vest and baggy trousers down but not seen her in crocs, thank god.

I saw a fair few nude/Tan coloured all in one full length catsuits when were were on holiday on the South coast. Even with good figures they just looked ridiculous, especially with slug eyebrows, birds nest hair and huuuuge lips.

Crikey - nude catsuits haven't made their way where I am 😂

Similar here except definitely not minimal make up!

It's interesting because I'm from a working class northern town, but I live in a very middle class London suburb. The contrast between the young-uns is so stark! Seems posh girls here do very minimal makeup. Definitely not so where I'm from! 😂

Young holiday makers on the aircraft were wearing matching bras and cycling shorts, with a shirt, shacket or sweatshirt over. I always think how they would cope with emergency landing in a rubber dinghy, not sure why I have this fantasy 😂

Very similar to all saints circa 1990s which I also wore (showing my age!). Bug cargo pants, tiny vests, straight hair or waves. Minimal makeup. Glossier or Charlotte tilbury are the brands of choice.

dd is 12 and is currently wearing a pair of oversized jean shorts and a little cami vest. Lots of woven friendship bracelets, and classic vans with crew socks.

It all seems very 90's and similar to what I was wearing, which is a bit odd.
Dd has cropped tops and baggy trousers.
There is more gym wear as everyday wear though.

As a teen from say 14/15 onwards we had:-

puffball skirts with crop tops
baggy skirts and fishtail skirts
sweatshirts and cricket jumpers
knee length and shorter denim skirts
polo necks in white and black with braces and baggy jeans

later teens early 20s cycling shorts - I had very pale pink ones as well as black and cropped tops/short sleeved sweaters cropped. My DM bought me and DB’s girlfriend almost matching ones (of latter) then.

Yep but never in a million years would I wear a nude body stocking or the cycling shorts crop top combo lots of girls wear locally either in nude, shades matching skin time so you wonder if they’re naked or not or pale pink or orange. Matching fake tan too.

See, the current fashions are very much a take on what I wore as a teenager in the 90’s. Bodies, oversized shirts, cargo pants, bucket hats. Little skirts or strapped dresses over tops, cycling shorts…. I could go on!

Seen some 90s style fashion coming back which I like but the current (non nineties) trend of wearing tight hotpants style shorts is horrible. Worse are those vile unitard things. Especially when they are flesh coloured. It literally looks like they have forgotten to put their clothes on. Do these girls not realise you can almost see everything? Or is that the whole idea?

I work at a university and see lots of girls with baggy jogging bottoms/jeans and crop tops. Really oversized clothes seem to be in for males and females. I think the lads are becoming bit more adventurous these days. Seems like mullets and moustaches are back in! A real 80s look. Also big colourful clothes, pin striped cropped trousers, dungarees. I've also noticed more of the boys sporting feminine looks - like feminine jewellery and hairstyles and the occasional skirt.

Dd wears similar to that in South London but doesn't have crocs

Today at the beach I saw a teen wearing bagging trousers a bikini top and a fishnet top that only covered her arms and shoulders bust and waist was uncovered by the top😂 seems pointless to me and the suntan marks will be interesting. But what do I know I'm old!

So unfair - the only time I had a super flat stomach was in my teens and we all wore those long vests, what a waste!

My daughter (13) wears exactly what you describe OP, including the crocs.

Mostly round here (South West) it’s baggy bottoms and crop tops, or denim hot pants or those ubiquitous Nike pro shorts.
