DIY Bridal Makeup Must Haves?

Hey,

I’m getting married next year, and will be doing my own makeup. I love makeup, I want to feel and look like me and love the thought of having an hour or so to myself, before the craziness of the wedding to just sit and pamper and put my makeup up.

Does anyone have any recommendations for must haves, setting sprays, primers, waterproof mascaras etc?

Has anyone done their own bridal makeup? Was it the right choice for you?

I’m excited and nervous, because I am in no way a professional or anywhere close, I just love the process! 😊

I did not do my own makeup and I always come on these threads to advocate for a professional MUA - on the morning you might be stressed and it's one less thing to worry about (I was actually fine, but a strip lash going wonky etc could have tipped me over the edge).

Another point - do you have professional photographer? Can you arrange an engagement shoot with them to trial your makeup in photos? I felt and looked like me on the day (just on a really good day), but the makeup was much heavier than what I'd normally apply myself. My normal glammed up makeup would have looked too natural in professional photos.

If you're set on doing your own - NARS Radiant Glow is nice foundation. MUAs seem to love Charlotte Tilbury concealer - I rate Hourglass much better. Urban Decay All nighter is a great setting spray.
