What to wear with cargo pants

I dressed like All Saints back in the day when I was at school/uni first year and still have two pairs of cargo pants, one in silk, that I haven't been brave enough to wear. I won't be doing the crop top thing anymore, camouflage or other, so what would you wear now, as in tops and shoes, to look relevant and not a throwback?

I wear mine with a close (but not tight) fitting T-shirt and Birkenstock style sliders.

A broderie anglaise top and metallic sandals.

DD wears hers with a pair of chunky black leather converse and a black tshirt/ vest top

T-shirt and white trainers.
