How to break in dr marten sandals

Hi all,

I'm struggling breaking in my docs sandals. I usually wear like gel heal protectors with my boots and can't do that with my sandals so was wondering what the secret was or have I paid 100 squid for torture devices Grin

I think Timpsons offer a service to do it for you!

Have never yet defeated a pair of Dr martens. Think you might have to pass the on to a more worthy opponent.

Urgh me too, I got a couple of pairs and both rub my feet in different places so I alternate between the two until one set of wounds has healed Sad then swap

Not sure if it would work on dr martens but I have had great results with other shoes I needed to break in by massaging the leather with my hands. You just waggle the leather about with your hands and move it about to try and soften it iyswim? Focus on the places that rub your feet.

Unfortunately I'd say they are torture devices - I had to reluctantly sell my Blaires on as I just couldn't put up with the blisters any more. I bought some chunky Timberland sandals with the proceeds and they are like wearing clouds- quite the contrast!

Not sure which pair you have but I have the blaire sandals and having the strap on several points looser than I thought I needed really helped. I think it was the stiffness of the leather that meant it was cutting in, even when the strap wasn't done up tight. I can now walk around all day in them with no problems.

Glad I sent my blaires back, the straps were a very odd fit, thought it was just me!
