Waterproof, warm equivalent of MaxMara coats?

Hi all,

I’m trying to build a more ‘forever’ wardrobe with great quality classics that I love and will last.

Thinking ahead to winter… What is the waterproof and warm equivalent of a MaxMara Will coat? I live in London so not Barbour or other more country styles, and I don’t like Moncler as I find it a bit flashy, but would love something well cut and warm that I can also wear on a rainy school run or dog walk.

No specific budget in mind but happy to spend for an investment item.

I had an amazing waterproof Maxmara coat many years ago. This is no help to you now, unless they still make waterproof things?

I loved that coat, it died after about ten years.

Do you mean a classic trench smart style or something more casual/warm?

If the latter Creenstone sometimes have some lovely coats in ( and often on sale at this time of year)

I’m not too sure to be honest. I want something classic that won’t go out of style but is also warm and will keep me dry. I’m just not sure I’ve seen anything that stands out.

I've spent most of today earmarking funds for things from Sumissura, a tailor. They've got loads of water resistant fabrics for their trench coats - you can tweak the design but, if you'd rather have one of their 'Coats' in a trench fabric, I bet they'd accommodate.
