Hey friends! 💍👰
So, I found this wedding dress from 2005, and I need your honest-to-goodness thoughts. I can't figure out if it's cool in a vintage way or just completely out of style and awful.
Don't hold back or try to be nice – I want your unfiltered opinions! Whether you think it's awesome or awful, I want to hear it. I know you all will tell it like it is.

The very first word that sprang to mind was "bland". It looks incredibly pedestrian.

FayCarew · 03/08/2023 16:17

The colour is nice.

GoldDuster · 03/08/2023 16:25

Not even in 2005, sorry. It's ironic fancy dress, possibly retro, definitely not vintage. Unless you really love it and it's the dress of your childhood dreams.

BucketofTeaMassiveCake · 03/08/2023 16:38

It's far too wide and puffy - not at all flattering.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 03/08/2023 16:39

Looks like a duvet.

mnahmnah · 03/08/2023 16:39

I remember these being the big thing at the time. I called them duvet dresses. Didn’t like them then either!

DivineLillith · 03/08/2023 16:40

It’s looks like a Roman blind and is awful, sorry op.

greenteaandmarshmallows · 03/08/2023 16:41

I can't stand it. The bodice bit looks so smooth then the bottom looks like a vienetta

Sarah484l · 10/08/2023 14:16

I think we're all agreed , this is one that was for sale ... dare I say it now , hideous?

@Sarah484l I'm not sure I've ever seen a thread that was in such total agreement!

Sarah484l · 10/08/2023 14:21

Yes!

Atrocious!

Maddy70 · 10/08/2023 14:25

It actually looks a bit cheap to me the material doesn't look great

inappropriateraspberry · 10/08/2023 15:20

It's pretty naff.

SoupDragon · 10/08/2023 15:35

This exact thread has been done before! For some reason I don't think it was quite so unanimous that time. It was within the last year I'm sure, possibly even more recent.

SoupDragon · 10/08/2023 15:41

By exact thread I mean asking for opinions on that specific dress.

Jubaju · 10/08/2023 16:00

i think it was outdated, ugly and wrong back in 2005 😂

Maireas · 10/08/2023 20:12

That strapless trend was just awful, suited so few women. The rest of the dress is worse - it really hasn't dated well. Austrian blinds indeed!

I remember it too, I had to check if it was a zombie thread.

This! A colleague of mine in 2006/7 got married in a dress like this and I couldn't believe she had willingly chosen it!

LlynTegid · 10/08/2023 20:32

I join the universal agreement.

MrsCharlieD · 10/08/2023 21:00

Sorry I really don't like it. It's not vintage in a cool way unfortunately and just looks dated. I was a 2009 bride and would choose something completely different now. I didn't like that style then either.

hermioneee · 10/08/2023 21:01

I actually don't mind the style at all but I think that is just not a nice version of it. As others have said it looks cheap.
If you like that kind of ballgowny looks there were much nicer versions of it back in 2005!!

Coffeesaurus · 10/08/2023 21:05

I actually think it has potential - as a basis for some alterations I would love to give it a bit of TLC and an update. Not trying to be contrary or owt.
