What is your skincare routine?

I am 50 and since having the Dcs I am out of a skincare routine. I wash my face with Dove soap, moisturise and that's it. Somewhat surprisingly my skin is in pretty good shape but it's time to get back to caring for it.

Way back in the day when i was richer and had more time I used to have monthly facials. But i just went onto the website of the place I went to and facials are now over £100! No way. So i have just bought some various creams and serums from Amazon and wish to get back to it.

I use sunscreen every day and I use a facial mask about 3 times a year. I am planning to do a weekly mask- recommendations very welcome! I used to have oily skin but now am very much a combination- dry on cheeks and oily around the nose.

Would love to hear what others do and what they swear by!!

Hi OP,

I'm 39 and have combination skin (oily nose and chin, dry cheeks). After seeing my first fine lines this year, I started using retinol. This is my current routine:

PM
Bioderma micellar water
Cerave hydrating cleanser
Scinic first treatment essence
Indeed Labs retinol reface

AM
Cerave hydrating cleanser
Scinic first treatment essence
MooGoo vitamin c serum or La Roche Posay Toleraine sensitive cream
Beauty of Joseon spf

On sunday nights I use Sali Hughes placid (and skip the retinol)

A few nights a week, I use Face Theory Saliatica

Morning:
Cleanser,
Vit C serum
Moisturiser
SPF

Evening:
Quite often do nothing… 😱😱😱
Sometimes cleanse & moisturise

But I do exercise most days and I drink LOTS of water. 😅

Thanks everyone!

I have bought Cerave cleanser and a revitalise moisturiser.

The past couple of days i have ;

Morning

  • splash warm water on face and dry
  • serum
  • moisturiser with SPF
  • Primer
  • makeup

Evening (in shower so easy)

  • cleanse and rinse
  • second cleanser
  • toner
  • eye serum
  • night cream
  • lip balm

It's only been two days but my skin already feels so smooth and moist and soft! I have noticed that my makeup goes on much more smoothly and evenly.

I did have some wine yesterday though but am starting the day with a big glass of water.

I have a facial booked in with extractions and will be sure to book another in 4 months time so it's in the diary.

I think I have lovely skin, I've helped family members get a nice routine and they are thrilled.

I think key is understanding what your skin needs, then consistently doing it. For me that's hydration.

Morning
I wash with water
Vitamin c serum (this is my only expensive purchase I like Oskia capsules or Medik8)
Shea butter blend
Dr Sam tinted Spf 50

Evening
Oil cleanse - I like all the korean ones
Tretinoin 0.05 is my favourite dosage
Illiyoon ceramide cream
Thin layer of squalene or vaseline

It’s great to hear that you’re looking to improve your skincare routine With your skin now being combination, it’s important to pay attention to both the dry and oily areas. Seeing a dermatologist can provide you with insights tailored to your specific skin type and any concerns you may have.
