Do you bleach your mustache and is bleaching arm hair a step too far?

I'm very pale and very hair which is great for eyelashes, head hair and eyebrows but terrible for everything else and my hair is dark so I'm considering using joleon hair lightening cream on my arms, anyone else tried this?

I think bleaching body hair or facial hair is a whole load of faff and chemicals. I'd rather just get rid of it. I worked with a girl who bleached her moustache...she just had a blonde moustache. I wax

Posted too soon. I wax my upper lip. I epilate my arms

tinydancer88 · 29/07/2023 21:29

I sound similar to you in terms of colouring and I bleach my arm hair. Shaving would be adding a daily task I can’t be arsed with and waxing would still mean dark regrowth, and I don’t want totally hairless arms anyway.

On arms, epilate, hair removal cream, shave. Bleaching won't hide the hair and as Comedycook says would be a complete faff.

It won't be every day, whichever method you use for removal.

I don't have a mustache and I actually love arm hair (but no longer have it as hypothyroidism has caused me to lose most body hair now).

Indigotree · 29/07/2023 22:12

I used to bleach but aimed to lighten it to light brown rather than blonde. I too have fair skin, very dark hairy hair.
Now I've given up and just shave them. I keep them covered in winter; in summer I tan fast so it looks ok. Though I'd rather not be bald-armed, it's better than superhairy!

Thepossibility · 29/07/2023 22:29

I'm very pale with dark hair. I used to mess about bleaching everything but a couple of people pointed out I have a while moustache.
Years ago I bought a home IPL machine and sorted everything (face including sideburns, arms, bikini line- even my little snail trail that I was visible because of the dark hair white skin combo). Wonderful results.
I haven't done it in a long time and the hair is still much sparser than it was.

I've bleached my arm hair before. I have long and darker than average hairs on my arms, I used to shave them but as you said, the upkeep is too much and no hair looked odd. Only thing that suprised me with bleaching is that I got roots! I didn't realise but the hair just constantly grows, so I would end up with dark into light bits until it had grown all the way off- longest hairs about an inch. I leave them alone now, cover them in winter anyway and then in summer they bleach out. Just decided that it is me and I'm OK with it now.

I don't use it on the "stache" regularly, but truth be told I've done it. I do need to stick cotton in my nose because of the smell of ammonia as it makes me sick. I don't see it as particularly great tbh. Hair grows and the colour won't make it look nicer (that's my personal opinion, regarding my own face). If you're doing it make sure you pick between "colour" or "epilation" what I mean is do you not mind having lots of hair as long as it's lighter? Or hair is hair and you want it gone? After it's been bleached you can't wax or epilate for a while as it stings, looks red and if you go a little overboard it ends up feeling/looking very raw. I prefer to do it at night so it can heal a bit overnight (sudocrem's good if it looks very red).
I haven't done it on my arms in a while but I've done it a million times before, more than on the upperlip, always with Jolen too. It's super easy but for the arms it's almost a full pot. Make sure you put your arms on a towel and I'd do it before shower with old clothes on or none on because they might stain. You can't move around either because little bits might fall off. So don't move around while you're waiting or you'll get little flakes here and there. It's easier to remove with a shower hose than in a sink (I always end up half wet).

Somebody mentioned they get roots! Holy Moley, I never did but tbh but I have a lot of dark hair which is mostly fine with a few really thick ones here and there, so maybe that plays a part? If your hair is all very thick maybe try it on the legs?

AssertiveGertrude · 29/07/2023 22:54

I bought the joelene for this purpose but never got around to doing it !

WhereAreWeNow · 29/07/2023 23:18

I used to do this but hated seeing the roots/regrowth.

Cupcakekiller · 30/07/2023 15:45

I just shave my tache and arms.

Findyourneutralspace · 30/07/2023 15:47

I’m very hairy too! I shave my arms. It doesn’t take long and they don’t grow as fast or stubbly as leg hairs.

Whataretalkingabout · 30/07/2023 16:03

What's wrong with hairless / bare arms? I'm very pale and blonde and have never had any hair on my arms. Does that make me weird looking?
I would laser it all off in other areas if I could. Doesn't work for pale skin/ blondes.

Again, there is nothing wrong with hairy arms either! Whatever suits you.

Yes, I didn't get that either. There's nothing odd about it. Bleaching obvious arm hair is just going to mean obvious bleached arm hair.

bunhead1979 · 30/07/2023 17:28

Bikini trimmer is great for arms.

emmylousings · 30/07/2023 18:32

I've been bleaching my tash since I was a teenager. I still think it's the best option for me, as its really dark thick hair and any regrowth would look and feel awful. Jolen also softens the hair a bit, which might make me a bit more snogable!

Yusay · 30/07/2023 18:34

I have PCOS and shave my lip and some of my chin. Don’t bother with bleach, so many dark haired women walk around with a bright yellow/orange moustache that they seem to think is invisible. It’s not a good look.

Have never bothered with arms but again bleach would look ridiculous. If they need treatment try laser hair removal.

SunnieShine · 30/07/2023 18:37

Phillips lumea is your friend.

emmylousings · 30/07/2023 21:43

Ok, I'm interested in this lumea thing...I'm always reading that hair must be dark for it to work. So that means my tash would have to be dark before I could use it? Also...what about the regrowth- its going to grow back dark isn't it? I just don't see a way round that!?

Pancakefam · 30/07/2023 22:03

I used to bleach my arm hair when younger and it looked fine. There were roots growing out but I'd wear long sleeves for a couple of days. Now I've accepted who I am and am happy with my hairy arms. It's a shame so many are keen to remove it so people that otherwise wouldn't mind then feel pressured. Such a faff.
