What shoes with this dress?

I’m hopefully starting a new job soon and I got This dress but I have no idea what shoes to wear with it.

I walk to do the school run and to work so looking for something reasonably practical.

Loafers or brogues would work

I would wear any of the more sensible from here (with a low heel rather than completely flat) in any colour that took my fancy

These in any of the colours which took my fancy.

You could wear loafers or brogues. Personally I think loafers look terrible with dresses. Brogues, if they're not too clompy look ok.

I’d definitely get some reasonably comfortable boots if I were you, @SBAM. Steal a march on Autumn; it’s too late to be buying Summer footwear (unless for a holiday).

Question is where to buy on a ‘starting a new job’ budget …

Cos has these penny loafers for a little less; think they’d look great with a dress, and should be comfortable.

Though in all honesty you need to do your walking in old trainers and change wgen you get to work!

@SallyWD I don’t know what the photographer was up to, but yes it is actually a dress.

Thanks all for your suggestions, I have some black patent loafers already but didn’t know if they might be a bit clunky with that dress. I think @MayIDestroyYou is right not to hang onto summer, I’ll take a look at the brogue and boot suggestions and see what would work with my other clothes.
