Any semi permanent MUAs around? MRI scan worry

I need an MRI scan, got a slot early next week. Head and neck. Had hair stroke brows put in spring and top up about six weeks ago because of long term illness. Have asked my lovely semi permanent MUA for any further detail of formula but she may be away on holiday. She had already messaged me to reply that there was iron oxide in the pigment she used on me but didn’t share the brand name or amount in the formula.

What do I do? I called clinic to let them know this and ask advice, admin person is asking radiographers who are going to let me know if it’s a problem.

I’m very worried about not being able to have the MRI, but also I am frightened about iron oxide burns if I do. SPMUAs, if an area is going to heat up under MRI is it instant? or will I have time to buzz the MRI scanner team if it starts to feel hot or burns? Radiographers or anyone with newish brows, have you had any experience with this? Thank you

Basically it's a tattoo isn't it? I know sometimes with tattoos that they can get a bit warm in the mri machine. Once when I had a 45 minute mri the one on my chest got a bit warm at the end but I just let the staff no and they stopped the machine. I went back to finish the last 15 minute mri the next day and it didn't happen that time.

I have PMU and had an MRI weeks ago . Let them know on the day and there was no issue

My PMU is on my face and I had a brain and neck scan ... was fine

Thanks RomDowathat’s good to hear. It is tattooed in with a needle and I guess they use the same type of ink. Was your tattoo old or new then? I don’t know if it makes a difference.

Thank you so much Steval
I have read some horror stories about face skin being worse affected because it’s thinner so that’s really helpful.

It was an old tattoo , I'm unsure if it makes a difference either. What they do with the eyebrows is semi permanent isn't it?I know a friend has something done with hers and she has to get them touched up.

I think with SPMU the ink stays put only for a few months/years really- so MRI must be fine after a certain time because your body has broken down the ink. But I just worry that because mine is so new that it’s going to really react. I’ll just have to hope for the best.

Apart from this issue it’s been really great to have, so if MRIs are not an issue I would recommend SPMU to anyone.

I've got micropigmentation brows and heavily tattooed and have had numerous MRI scans with no issues. Didn't even feel a bit warm

Just want to come back and reassure that it was all completely fine. Not felt at all. Hope that helps someone else.
