Or is it too linger / sexy? As shown on the picture. Thank you.

Would you wear lace trim cami to work under blazer?

I swear a woman came to my work dressed in a weird school uniform type getup with pink ringlet bunches the other week.
Before that, someone arrived ready to go clubbing in 2001 dressed in a mini skirt and heels.

So I wouldn't blink at a cami. Which wasn't what I expected when I joined the civil service.

Highlyflavouredgravy · 29/07/2023 00:08

No
It would go against our dress code for a start and would be highly inappropriate and impractical. I work with children.

HedgehogB · 29/07/2023 00:16

No. No. No. Why would you want to? I work for a ftse 100 company. Would you like a male colleague to show his y fronts? Blimey why are you even asking

Costacoffeeplease · 29/07/2023 00:36

No

seafish · 29/07/2023 01:07

i wouldn't but plenty of my colleagues have worn things like this. We're corporate but have a very lax dress code

HarrietJet · 29/07/2023 01:20

No.

avocadotofu · 29/07/2023 01:31

No.

GrumpyOldCrone · 29/07/2023 01:46

I wouldn’t, but I wouldn’t really judge anyone who did. My issue, like a PP, would be the fear of having to take off the blazer.

DeeCeeCherry · 29/07/2023 01:47

No. It looks like underwear. Why portray that image at work?

I just wouldn't! Corporate offices are always airconditioned to heck anyway.

GarlicGrace · 29/07/2023 01:59

Yes - but only if it functioned as a top! Camis tend to be loose around the sides, at best, meaning you're liable to side-boob exposure and excessive bra display. I mean, they're supposed to give the impression they might slide off at any moment.

A cami that has sufficient tailoring or stretch to properly fit the body would cost a lot more than an actual top with lace detail.

No, but I would never wear a blazer with anything, ever.

No, and for the same reason. I try to avoid the word "dated" as it gets thrown out so often with much conviction, often misplaced, but that photo is a style that looks awfully passé.

GarlicGrace · 29/07/2023 03:10

that photo is a style that looks awfully passé. It is, isn't it? I couldn't work out what was so jarring about it, and decided it felt wrong because it's three clashing textures. You're right, though, it's a great deal simpler than that!

Ohyousillydivvy · 29/07/2023 03:54

Not at my work place, I'd be asked to change into something less revealing. That top is fine for a night out but not for the professional work environment.

It's a very pre-covid look. I think style has relaxed somewhat in the past few years.

VinEtFromage · 29/07/2023 07:43

In the 80's/90's I did.

now if I can't do it in leggings/tshirt it doesn't get done.

i still think it looks nice (I just don't have the figure for that to be a good look). Depends on your work place I suppose.

WunWun · 29/07/2023 07:46

There is no dress code at my work at all and people wear a whole range of things.

I wouldn't wear this, because it would stick out like a sore thumb as trying to look sexy.

HeadNorth · 29/07/2023 07:49

No, but then I dislike the underwear as outerwear look in general - I wouldn't wear a lace cami anywhere but the bedroom.

StarlightLady · 29/07/2023 10:09

Personally I wouldn't for the reasons I give below, but I would not be shocked, surprised or consider it inappropriate if a colleague did. I consider a cami to be multi functional rather than jus underwear so that's not an issue

Here are the reasons why they style would not suit me:

  • Like other posters I would not want to have the blazer on all day.
  • I wear a bra or a cami, not both, I can't abide multiple straps. I'm a 36F and while I'm happy braless on occasion out of work, I would not go to work without a bra.
AnnaMagnani · 29/07/2023 10:11

Yes if I had far less bust.

It's a very 90s look and the 90s are back - not past it at all, it's bang on trend.

Hoppinggreen · 29/07/2023 10:13

It’s nice but I did similar and felt I couldn’t take my blazer off even though I was too hot

WhereAreWeNow · 29/07/2023 10:16

I like a bit of lace but I wouldn't wear a strappy cami to work. Like others, I did back in the 90s/00s but not now. I love a strappy cami but it just feels a bit wrong for the office.
I've got a shell top/sleeveless blouse with a lace insert which gives a similar delicate lacy vibe but it feels a bit more office appropriate.

You do know that it's possible for a look to be "bang on trend" and look dated at the same time? I suppose if I'm being honest I didn't like that look in the 90s and it hasn't improved.

Whether it's bang on trend misses the point of whether it's reasonable office wear. It wouldn't have been in the 90s - unless you kept the jacket on.

TheOGCCL · 29/07/2023 10:48

It’d be far too overdressed for my work but otherwise it absolutely depends on bust size. The model has very little so it’s not overtly sexy, more French girl chic, especially toned down with the tweedy type blazer. A plain black blazer would change the vibe again.

Hididi11 · 21/06/2024 22:31

Only if you are super flat chested and it's super baggy

Otherwise it would give hooker vibes
