Can't wear jeans any more so what now?

So I am now huge. A 20 but with a massive barrel shaped middle. Big tummy, bum and thighs. Aged 50 and have got bigger and bigger the last few years.
What can I wear instead of jeans and a top / t shirt if I wanted to be casual. Need to also wear sensible but not flat shoes due to tendon problems.
I'm a big mess. Physically, mentally, clothes wise. I feel and look like shit

Help we're away for a few days soon in UK so need something for poor weather.

You can still wear jeans especially if you focus on the style of the tops. I'm bigger than you but still wear jeans, although I've recently been converted to jeggings.

Hopefully someone can point us both in the direction of which styles are better as I'm still learning myself.

I wore jeans for the first time in a long time, so restrictive compared to chinos.

namechangedyetagain · 26/07/2023 20:16

Good range of sizes there but they look really casual for me and someone my age. I love dark denim that looks smart but like I say am completely lost and no idea what to wear on feet. I'm not a trainer person (as in I don't own any)

Leggings

anything made to stretch.

delilabell · 26/07/2023 20:52

I wear midi dresses and chubrub shirts, tshirts and chinos or dresses and leggings. Haven't worn jeans (jeggings) for a year and it's lovely!

midsomermurderess · 26/07/2023 20:59

Went into alien there, ‘Expensive’, obvs.

Olika · 26/07/2023 21:03

I am size 20 and love jeggins from Asda. They are so stretchy and comfy.

DaisyThistle · 26/07/2023 21:23

I put on weight recently and swapped jeans for BAM yoga pants. Very gentle around the waist if your stomach is tender or swollen. They have cuffs, but that seems to give them structure rather than make them too casual. And the navy ones are a good staple colour. You can wear them with t shirts or boho shirts. I've even worn them with oversized men's-style shirts like the ones Zara are doing this season.
And they encourage you to stretch and do squats as they are essentially activewear, so it's easy to move in them.

I've just got these from asda im a size 22 love them so comfy

Spanx wide-leg trousers! Look great, feel incredibly comfy. I wear mine with trainers or sandals.

PumpkinSpicedTea · 27/07/2023 11:01

How about tapered style trousers/jeans etc. Really good for your shape I think.

QuestionableMouse · 27/07/2023 18:50

Lands' End Starfish trousers. Super comfy!

I’m a 20 and age 42 and I wear a lot of trousers from Yours. I have bladder issues and lupus and need to be really comfortable and find a lot of the leggings / trousers generally suggested are just really tight around my middle or they just draw attention to it! I like loose wide legged styles - yours have loads in plain and print - and they have a small elasticated waistband so not restrictive. I pair them with boxy style T shirts and tops from Asos curve or New Look. And then some sort of trendy trainer. Currently wearing adidas gazelles. But you could go for loafers and scarves with nice jewellery to smarten it all up a bit.

I find that anything that has a lot of bag in it around the hip and belly makes you look enormous

I prefer those bengaline (not sure if that is the right word) trousers that are sort of smart looking, sort of stretchy, but dont bag and are tight to the bum and upper thigh/belly

Then wear a nice floaty top over the top to cover bum and belly but theres no added bulk underneath it, so you're more streamlined

You could wear with ballet flats or fashion trainers

I have gynae issues so can't wear anything restricted around middle, I'm an 18/20 and a massive bit under belly button.

Love magic trousers and the jeans ones as well, so very comfortable and stretchy. I have the joggers that are all over eBay and Amazon as well - they're not for winter but good for summer. Also m&s jeggings are so much more comfortable than jeans that do up at the waist. Those and a hoodie in winter are my go to.

I'm obsessed with these ATM, having spent the last many, many years not wearing trousers at all. Sooo comfortable to wear. Google for a voucher on first order as they are quite spendy (but there is a sale on now)

I am wearing mainly linen mix trousers over the summer - M&S and Next.
very comfortable and not too casual.

GettingStuffed · 27/07/2023 19:42

I wear joggers or yoga pants but I do have a pair of Primark mom jeans from last year and I like them as they don't hug my legs, I hate the restrictive feeling of jeans
