How am I meant to put these earrings in?

I got these earrings a few weeks ago from FatFace. Hopefully the pictures have attached.

How am I supposed to put them in?

There is a bend right next to the bit you poke in your ear lobe. This means you need to turn them when they're halfway through - which doesn't work. I can't believe I have unusually fat ear lobes.

Am I missing something? How do I put these in?

Just poke them through. Your lobe is flexible so the 'tube' / hole through your ear should bend along the kink in the wire. They can be a bit uncomfortable if it sort of pokes the side of the hole while it's inside the lobe so just do it slowly.

Rather than approach the ear from the bottom as we usually do when putting earrings in, can you approach the ear from the side?
That way your jaw / face won't be in the way when you're trying to turn them?

They aren't very ergonomic are they?
