Cotton knee length skirts for beach/casual

Going to the south of France in a week's time and looking for skirts...

I know there are lots of pretty longer length skirts around, but I'm really looking for something more casual that I could wear as a change from shorts during the day. I'm thinking of heavy sweatshirt-type stretchy material (not too clingy) or lighter, floaty cotton. I'm late 40s and definitely can't do a mini skirt (my legs are not my best feature! ) but don't want to drown in material so preferably knee-length or just below knee.

I'm 5'7" size 12-14 fair hair/skin, and not keen on beige/washed out neutral colours; love blues, pinks, reds some greens...

Maximum budget about £50.

Any help gratefully received!

However it’s knee length on me at 5’3 but guess it may not be on you.

Knee length is really hard to find at the moment. You could try La Redoute, they let you filter by material and they do a fair bit of cotton. Look especially at the Anne Weyburn brand there.

this is a nice looking La redoute option and there is also a similar one with buttons down the front

I bought this in the sale recently for similar reasons as am going to the alps (although can’t decide whether to keep or not!)

Very light cotton and hangs really nicely.

Should add I think it looks much nicer in the flesh ( with a neat t shirt) than how Thought have styled it!

Thank you minipie, that's lovely but I think it would be too short on me.

Almost perfect but the denim might be a bit too hot - I'm conscious of the very high temperatures over there atm.

Oh yes, that's nice. Possibly a bit long but I guess I could take it up a bit.
Would you say it's true to size?

Fairly true to size - On the larger size if anything. It’s just below knee on me and I’m 5’3.

Also in JL if that’s easier. If you are 12-14 I’d go for the 12 ( I’m 10-12 and the 10 is definitely big enough)

Would sweatshirt material not be way too hot for South of France?

I think it’s more like chambray than denim looking at how it hangs, it’s called lightweight denim

Yes, you might be right. I'm just trying to think of something that would be comfortable/stretchy/casual.

Weird Fish Malmo jersey skirts have a waistband that gives 2 possible lengths. They are quite packable

I head for Ebay and per una skirts as I don't like wearing shorts.. They are knee length on me and lovely and flippy.

Might be worth it. The length on the models looks slightly shorter than the one I have (I’m 5ft 9 and a half)

I was going to suggest the Seasalt Jessica. I have the navy spot one. It is just below the knee and elasticated, so great for the heat. Looks smart and can be dressed up or down.

I have bought a skort recently that’s meant for outdoor adventures from Sherpa. Nice and lightweight. Not cotton but very comfortable in hot weather.
