Which high street make up brands to look at? Shopping tomorrow

Hello
I'm hoping some of you knowledgeable ladies will be able to impart some of your makeup wisdom and help me look marginally presentable please!

I am 44, in the throws of peri and have always worn minimal makeup (mascara, concealer & possibly powder, plus lipstick and eyeshadow for a night out). But I don't like the current mascara, concealer or powder I have, and need new eyeshadow.
I very rarely wear foundation, apart from special occasions, but haven't worn it in years. However, I have a wedding coming up and would like to look a bit more polished.

I only have tomorrow to go and buy items and my options are Boots and Superdrug. Off the top of my head, some of the brands available are NYX, Elf, Maybelline, L'Oréal, No.7, Rimmel, Revlon. I know there are several more too.
There is a No.7 counter that is manned but no higher end counters apart from Clarins.

Can anyone recommend:
a very lightweight, natural foundation (as I don't really like the feeling),
Undereye/blemish concealer,
Powder,
Eyeshadow (thst doesn't flake/smudge)
And anything else I should be considering?

From brands that are available on the high street only please.
Thank you so much in advance.

Have you tried tinted moisturiser or BB cream?

OMGitsnotgood · 18/07/2023 18:07

I was also going to suggest a tinted moisturiser. I like No 7 tinted moisturiser and I also love their lip and cheek tint (but on cheeks, doesn't work well on my lips )

I would get yourself to the makeup counter with an assistant for advice. I use concealer from clinique too. It's expensive, but it lasts.

I'd look at Boots Natural Collection for all of it, with the tinted moisturiser rather than foundation. The eyeshadows are excellent.

Or for foundation of various types, Revolution do a lot of colours - probably more than any other high st brand.

For concealer Collection Lasting Perfection (not Boots Natural Collection, this one used to be Collection 2000) regularly comes out top in surveys, even beating the much pricier ones.
