Brow tint that actually works, and lasts?

I've given up with Eylure as it makes not a jot of difference to my sparse eyebrows. They've always been thin with very little 'tail', but used to be dark brown. As I've aged, the hairs have become a light brown, possibly grey - can't tell, they're hard to see!

My hair was dark brown but is now 70% grey/white, and highlighted ash blonde. I've always liked dark, quite heavy brows but that would be too harsh/obvious on my face now, so I probably wouldn't go down the tattooing / microblade route. Besides which it's bloomin' expensive, with the top-ups and all.

I just want something to beef up my brows for a week or two, without having to reinvent them every morning!

I've had them professionally dyed in salons, I've tried following instructions to the letter, I've tried leaving the gunk on for progressively longer times, up to about 30 mins... just doesn't work. Best result I can get is that the thick end is very slightly darker for about 5 minutes.

Has anyone tried Godefroy (supposed to last 4-6 weeks - really?!), or Wunder2 Wunderbrow Eyebrow Gel (supposed to last 3 days)? Or do you have any other recommendations? Many thanks.

Wunderbrow def did not last three days on me. Not even a full day. Maybelline peel off brow tattoo! It's amazing

Thecarlady · 17/07/2023 14:04

most over the counter ones aren’t great, do you know anyone with a salon service/sally card?
the professional beauty system is great

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 17/07/2023 14:08

Get the salon tint and separate developer off eBay. Quite a few brands out there but I use Strictly Professional to tint my own eyebrows/eyelashes.

BenjaminDisraeli · 17/07/2023 15:20

Thanks all for the good tips! Ha, I thought the good stuff might be reserved for the professionals - though as I say I've not had much joy in salons either 😩I guess they have to be extra cautious. I'll investigate the professional beauty system and Strictly Professional.

Curious about how the Maybelline brow tattoo works @Ostagazuzulum, I'll give it a go!

I’ve seen quite a few girls on Instagram using Just for Men beard dye on their eyebrows and saying it’s better than eyebrow dye. I’m going to pick some up next time I’m in Boots.

Isabelle70 · 17/07/2023 19:34

I used to have my done in the salon and now use the same product Refectocil and developer that I get from Amazon.

goldcheese · 17/07/2023 19:36

I use refectocil and the developer. Lasts a few weeks

TheWristBoundLatexBitch · 17/07/2023 19:46

Definitely just for men. I use it every 4-6 weeks.

Tannedandfake · 17/07/2023 19:49

Dybrow

You could try Look Fabulous Forever Bring Back Brow.

Bring Back Brow Shape - Liquid Eyebrow Makeup for Older Women (lookfabulousforever.com)

They have very good customer service and will refund if you're not happy. You do need to use a brow brush, dot it on, and shape it, don't expect to literally paint a brow on as you'll look like a clown. They have great videos.

You need to do it every day but it is pretty water resistant and has good staying power.

Bring Back Brow Shape

Our eyebrows fade and become more sparse as we get older. Our brow shape adds definition back into your eyebrows, which brings your eyes and face to life: Improves the look of thin, sparse, or uneven eyebrows using a soft, lightweight pigment Ultra-fi...

I use just for men beard dye. It's fantastic.

BenjaminDisraeli · 17/07/2023 20:57

I've decided to go for Refectocil, as it gets good reviews on here and in the 'Similar threads' list (I hasten to add I did search for brow threads before posting, but they didn't seem relevant to my particular brow situation. Ohhh I had a lot to learn...)

I'm also making a note of all suggestions on here because I suspect my teflon brows may not be ready to give up the fight just yet. Beard dye, I've wondered about that myself, those bristles have got to be tough buggers to dye, right?

Another vote for revitalish and the developer, I buy mine on Amazon and use it once a fortnight. I reckon I get about a year's worth of dying my eyebrows so makes it really good value for money.

I'm brunette and use the dark brown one for 8mjns which is enough to tint all the little hairs so my brows look much fuller. It does slightly tint the skin underneath for a couple of days so make sure you wipe it away from anywhere you don't want it!

HighInTheHills · 17/07/2023 20:59

Oh and make sure your brows are sompletely free of any moisturiser etc before you dye them, I always give mine a quick wash with soap and water first.

Tannedandfake · 17/07/2023 19:49

Dybrow

This is what I use.

msmonstera · 17/07/2023 21:13

Just for men beard dye is an absolute game changer.
It actually made me upset how good and cheap and easy and not-messy a product 'for men' is in comparison to the faffy expensive rubbish that doesn't even work that we get thrown.
I am a natural redhead with translucent blonde brows that don't show. Dyed them three whole weeks ago with the beard dye and they are still visible! Will prob do again tomorrow.
It's a fast dye so do a practise first, I used arm hair to see how it would take.

Littleguggi · 17/07/2023 21:39

If you've got sparse hairs, a tint or dye won't work as it'll just colour your skin, I know because that's what happened to me when I tried to colour my sparse brows. Maybe try a brow gel and pencil. I use Refy.

Sunnysunbun · 17/07/2023 21:41

My dd uses Just for men beard dye and hers look amazing.

MidtoLon · 17/07/2023 23:07

Another vote for Just for Men beard dye

AnneShirleysNewDress · 17/07/2023 23:14

Off to order some Just for Men

BenjaminDisraeli · 18/07/2023 18:03

@HighInTheHills - absolutely - not a trace of oil, moisturizer, water or anything else is allowed pre-dyeing - makes no difference!

@Littleguggi good point, well I'll see if it works. Don't mind if it dyes the skin. Might have to supplement with pencil.

Very impressed by what people are saying about Just for Men. Next on the list!

Quick update: gold star for Refectocil!!

I was cautious with my first application, followed the instructions to the letter, and it didn't leave my brows quite as scary as I'd hoped - more like natural, dark eyebrows, which I'm sure is what most people want! And the colour's still there 10 days later. Next time I'll be braver and leave it on longer.

So happy, thanks all!!
