How the chuff do I soften the leather on my new Arizonas?

Gorgeous new Arizonas, real leather but they are going to shred my feet. How do I soften it, will it take long, or should I just return them if I have sensitive feet?

I have eds and really dodgy skin that does split/tear easily, my mayaris are fake suede and have been fine but these new Ives (they're silver if that makes a difference) are just solid.

In the past I've taken a nail file/emery board to the edges of leather sandals to soften up the bits that would otherwise rub. It's a quick fix!
