Please recommend day and night moisturiser/serum late fifties

I currently use Simple moisturiser with spf. Just wondered which day and night moisturisers and serum people would recommend for late fifties, not too expensive, so under £20 if possible? I don't have many wrinkles but a bit jowly and have elevens (?) and crows feet. Skin around eyes is quite sensitive, but ok elsewhere.

I use Micellar water to cleanse.

I should add, I find all the different products very confusing!

And now I've read micellar isn't great for cleansing, very drying. I really don't have time to cleanse with muslin cloths etc, I know I'd keep it up for about two days, then lapse, so need to be quick and easy too.

I just about manage to wipe my face with cotton wool, then rub in moisturiser! I don't wear a lot of make up, mainly eye liner and mascara.

I’d check out Boots no 7 range. Latest range really good but expensive. Often on offer 3 for 2 and also on £10 Tuesday but offers sell out fast.

Thank you. I'll have a look. Still don't really know which moisturiser or serum would be suitable though. I don't know if I need tret etc. i just want a good day and night moisturiser and serum for aging skin.

If you go to the Boots No7 in store they do a 3d scan on your skin and recommend products to suit and have often have offers on. I managed to get these much cheaper in store.

I never leave micellar on after cleansing - I use it to clean off the small amount of makeup I use (eye shadow, mascara and dab of tinted moisturiser) and then rinse my face in warm water. Then apply Simple Rich moisturiser which I find is perfect for my skin and delicate eye area.

A lot of the overpriced cleaning and moisturising products on the market are heavily and unpleasantly perfumed so Simple is the only one that I tolerate well.

I would highly recommend the Lacura moisturisers in Aldi. Both the q10 and the caviar creams are great quality and reasonably priced.
They also do a lovely hot cloth cleanser which is nice after the micellar make up remover

Darklane · 15/07/2023 14:13

Use a hot cloth cleanser, it really will make a world of difference & just as quick as the micellar water. Just rub it on, wring out cloth under hot tap & wipe off makeup. It will help with gentle exfoliation which will make any creams absorb better.
Check out supermarkets for half price deals on brands like Olay & L’Oreal, or Nivea, all good ranges & mostly cheaper than No7.

@justlass from Boots you want the pink (not menopause) range or the new future renew range. If you get on buy 2 get one free they would come close to your price range. Also last a long time. Do read the reviews as well. For cleanser you can try Boots No7 micellar radiant results cleaning water, or there’s another one similar. They don’t seem to be drying but they will squirt you a sample of anything into a pot.

I use nip&fab dragon's blood serum day and nigh, it's very fruity smelling, and I find Nivea day and night moisturiser work well

AgnesVv · 15/07/2023 14:31

I used to use Simple moisturiser but over time I found it was a bit 'light' for me (I'm early 60s). I now use Aveeno, which I really like.

For cleansing I switch between Simple and Clarins face washes (and water).

Thanks for the suggestions, looking into them.

I should have said, something that helps make age spots less noticeable would be great, and as natural as possible.

Yes it is good. I do love the no 7 ones and my daughter often buys them for me but I will buy others like this when they are on offer.

justlass · 15/07/2023 18:00

Thanks 😊

Thanks, I've ordered it along with the day cream to match and then went for the Simple Night cream.
