Are high buns still fashionable

I’m going to a formal event soon and want to have my hair in a high bun but one of my friends said they’re really old fashioned and only low buns are in style now.

This is the sort of thing I wanted as I’m just not sure the low bun works on me!

I would say the one have attached is a bit dated. But something a bit messier with some face framing is quite current, like the old 90s messy buns.
