Best bulletproof nail varnish brand

I would like to have much nicer manicured and presented nails but shellac has never been an option for me as it just peels on day 2 or 3, and I have tried different people and difference brands.

Some have said it is because my nails are naturally too greasy it just doesn't last.

So I need to do something at home, probably daily in order to keep them at their best. If money is not option, what is he best brand to go for - for coloured polish or a system?

Shamelessly following op! I like essie
and seche vite on top but it peels off after a couple of days. So maybe I need to do as you suggest and pay attention to my nails daily. Too bad I'm a lazy cowbag 😁

I use Essie. Just regular nail varnish.
It goes on easy, dries fast and lasts. I’m always doing stuff like gardening with no gloves on or decorating and baking and it’s fine

I do my own gel polish now but when I used regular nail varnishes I found essie, rimmel 60 second and the super shine gel (it isn’t actually gel, just normal polish) were the best for not chipping. Always base and top coat too, run your top coat along the top edge of the nail, should make it more hard wearing.

Barry M glossy polishes aren’t high end but are bulletproof. I use the base coat, 2 layers of polish and the plump shine top coat. Easily lasts 7-10 days.
Must be the glossy range. Recommended on here a few years ago and I was amazed as most under £4.

I’m blown away by Nailberry. I usually don’t even make one day without chipping, but if I use the base and topcoat, this stuff can do a week no problem.

Some great suggestions already, thank you so much!

I only use Essie or Nails Inc but I find it’s as much to do with the prep/finish as the brand of nail varnish. I always use a base coat (usually Essie) and finish with a coat of Seche Vite.

I really rate Nailkind

1mum2girls3dogs · 18/07/2023 18:51

biab!! Find someone who uses ‘the gel bottle’. Any salon products have always chipped or peeled on me, but the biab stuff really works.

Jongleterre · 18/07/2023 18:52

Mavala.

Misslizzie96 · 18/07/2023 18:57

Another vote for BIAB, I also like the brand The Gel Bottle. I found similar I’d only get not even a week from shellac but I get the full 2 weeks and sometimes a few more days than that with BIAB. The BIAB builder gel comes in quite a few nude shades so you can either wear it just like that with clear topcoat or with gel colour on top. I have also bought clear BIAB from THe Gel Bottle and sometimes do it myself instead but find it lasts longer when I get a pro to do it.

I have the same problem with shellac….. I now use vinylux with the top coat . Lasts about a week before chips

wfcats · 18/07/2023 19:31

Seconding Barry M! Lasts for 1-2 weeks for me when much more expensive polishes chip within a day or two.

Make sure you do multiple thin layers, and lightly take the brush over the tip of your nail.

QueSyrahSyrah · 18/07/2023 19:35

I bought a MyMood for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it might have been a fluke but it was fantastic. It was on about a week and I had to redo my index finger on one hand but otherwise chip free.

I often found I struggle to get 12 hours out of a pristine set of nails before I see a chip (I'm not very delicate) so a week was more than impressive.

ThomasHardyPerennial · 18/07/2023 19:39

Another vote for Barry M! The gelly polishes are my fave. Always use nail polish remover on bare nails before painting to remove the oils.

Lookingoutside · 18/07/2023 21:06

Also recommend BIAB Gel Bottle manicures but if you want polish to do at home then the Barry M Jelly Hi Shine range is great with Nails Inc base coat and Seche Vite topcoat.

If your nails are oily you might benefit from a bottle of nail dehydrator. It goes on before your base coat.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 19/07/2023 06:06

Zoya nail polish. Amazing range of colours and incredibly long-lasting on me. I use Essie base coat, and Essie Good to Go quick drying top coat (better than Seche Vite, doesn't do that peeling thing).

FeelingwearyFeeelingsmall · 19/07/2023 09:28

Another vote for Nailberry. Because it is breathable it dries very quickly so it's easy to redo or put another coat on if it chips. The range of colours isn't great though.

it's a big investment but Sistaco is an Australian mineral based brand. You brush on the top coat, cure it then brush on a coloured mineral powder, add a top coat and cure that. You need a steady hand and less is definitely more but It's very quick and easy to do and even on my nails easily lasts a week. And the range of colours is great.
