Loose fitting linen trousers - shall I size up?

I love the style of these. They are not tight around my waist, but neither are they the loose fit you'd want in a pair of summer linens. However I feel if I size up they they might look a bit balloony around my middle, especially when I sit down.

I have some winter wide legged trousers and they sit lower on my tum and are SO comfortable.

I know I can just send them back and try the next size but well, that costs and takes time and you lot are usually pretty honest.

WWYD?

I find my linen trousers become looser when I start to move around after they are washed - perhaps the same might happen with this pair so a larger pair would just hang off you?

FritataPatate · 11/07/2023 08:10

They look like a good fit to me.

Linen always gives a lot with wear, so don't be tempted to go bigger - they'd be falling down by midmorning.

They fit you as they should. I love the colour. Where did you get them? Not keen on the elasticated waist at the back but might work (for me) if not elasticated at front...so please send link. TIA

Love them too! Where did you buy them?

YukoandHiro · 11/07/2023 08:55

They fit fine but I think they're a very unflattering style I'm afraid.

That's OK. Out of interest what style do you think would be more flattering on me? I don't have a very good eye for what I look good in.

They are elastic all the way round, I'm afraid. I'm not sure about the tassel myself tbh.

Thanks all, I hadn't considered that they would give during the day.

I think they need to be wider in the leg and longer.

These are not the ones!

That's sort of what I was thinking - that they need to be more slouchy.
They are not cheap.

( What long legs you have!!! )
They’re not a slouchy cut so sizing up will probably not give you the look you want. I had a quick look and Cos have these ( although limited sizes) and Arket might have something too. I would pay more for better quality if it’s linen.

I do have long legs!
They are more slouchy on the M&S site. That said, sometimes slouchy just looks like I've got the wrong size!
Thanks for the link.

Linen relaxes when worn, so don't worry about that. It's an easy mistake to size up, but then the garment gets bigger again after a few hours on.

I think a heavier linen, and a more structured cut - with a lower rise and wider shape at the hips - might suit you better? Those are very straight up and down, and the waistband is quite high.

Thanks. I really don't like elasticated waists (and the tassle!) Reminds me of children's trousers or jogging pants.

Me too! Really flattering on hips and stretchy enough at the waist to fit my belly. Not heavy material but not flimsy either. Got them in black and then bought white. They keep selling out. I'm 5ft 7 12/14 and bought 12 regular. Great quality for the price.

TheOrigRights · 11/07/2023 13:27

I love the colour of the ones I have, and those other ones don't come in that colour.
