Wedding outfit if not wearing a dress

I need ideas please for an outfit for a friends wedding. I’m currently the heaviest I have ever been, have a menopausal abdomen that refuses to budge.

I’ve ordered and tried a few dresses, but they don’t really do anything for my figure.

So I’m thinking of wearing some wide leg tailored sage trousers. I need a nice top for with it, the top I bought same time as the trousers is too casual I feel.

I’m 5’8, large bust and size 18/20 on top.

Have you got a link to the trousers? When and where is the wedding? I'm just thinking of the weather/temp you need to dress for.

I'm thinking a blazer and a vest top with a nice big necklace to doll it up

Get a top in the same fabric / colour as rhe trousers or a few shades lighter and it will look like a jumpsuit, really chic

Wedding is in August so I need to dress for heat, so definitely no polyester!

I like the idea of a top and blazer but would prefer a nicer top that doesn’t show so much skin for when I take the jacket off.

Maybe take it one step further and get a jumpsuit? I'm big on top, losing my waist to peri-m too and love a jumpsuit - a wrap top is especially flattering on a larger bust.

Thanks @TattoedLady, I feel too exposed in a jumpsuit though. Tend to wear tops that sit below wait and of trousers, I don’t tuck tops in.
It’s a confidence thing and I’d need to feel ok at the wedding, people don’t need to be seeing my tummy sticking out of a jumpsuit!

Have hesitated to respond because I’m not certain of your budget. Is Primark your preferred price point? And are you an 18-20 in most shops - bearing in mind that more expensive brands tend to cut more generously, so you might be a smaller size in their clothes?

What sort of colouring are you?

@Fleetress, no, I just really like the trousers. They are really flattering and I feel probably dressy enough for a wedding.

Would this match the trousers. I think it's very "occasion" and does not need tucking in either. Just a suggestion, as the colour may not be perfect for the outfit.
