Never been to a festival before and have no idea what to wear. Please advise fellow festival Go-ers 🙏🏻

Depending on location eg field beach or arena and whether I would either wear boots or trainers with either a sparkly skirt / dress or jeans and vest / T-shirt with a jumper/ jacket. Some people go all in sequins feathers etc, others just jeans and T-shirts. Depends also I guess on your usual style. But you may be standing a lot of the time so comfort is key (to me anyway). Take a hat, smaller and keeps you warmer than an extra jumper.

Yeah, layers and comfortable shoes. Be prepared for sun, rain and cold. Backpack or cross body bag so hands are free and so can dance.

It's going to be in a field (where V festival used to be). Others in our group will be taking fold up chairs, one of them taking a table!? Is this recommended. Hadn't thought of it?

I was thinking of wearing a shift dress and some Chelsea boots but do you think I ought to wear flats?
Do I take a backpack or better to take a bumbag?

I go every year. Really mixed crowd. Lots of tea dresses and people having posh picnics. Lots of people dressed for raving. Anything goes, just be comfortable. I've worn jeans and a t-shirt one year, maxi dress last year. I'd recommend flats, wouldn't bother with an chair just a picnic blanket. You can take your own drinks, the ones there are expensive and the queues are long. There are some nice food trucks. We take a pull along trolley with drinks, umbrellas, jumpers etc have fun

Because there are so many people at a festival, you only need a drop of rain to turn the ground to mud. Chelseas are fine if they are robust ones, or if the forecast is dry.

Also, it depends a lot on whether you are going to have a base - one spot where you can leave your stuff, because someone will be there at all times. If you are doing that, you can wear whatever you like and just take layers and wellies, as back up.

Don't forget mossie repellent, if you're wearing a dress.

Bum bag, worn at the front - fine. Worn at back or sides - risky because of pickpockets.

I disagree with a PP - a camping chair is much better than a blanket because, if it rains, you won't want to put the blanket down in the mud. Also pissed twats will trip over you more on a blanket.

Sorry if this sounds negative - it's not meant to be - I love a festival 😀
