Fixated on a pair of Chie Mihara platforms, can't decide if I should buy them.

Like a fool I tried on a pair of beautiful velvet platform shoes yesterday just for fun as I was trying on a dress and thought it would be nice not to be wearing walking boots for that 😀(actually the walking boots looked nice with it 😐 ) and they were so comfortable and felt so not-high that I took more notice and realised too late that they were Chie Mihara 😬 They had the perfect rock on the ball of the foot so they didn't jerk around like dead flat platforms can. Very shallow incline from toe to heel but looked sky high and made me feel six and a half feet tall. Would go with everything in my wardrobe.

They were £150 which is both a silly amount of money and a crazy bargain (in CM world).

Didn't buy the dress or anything else I tried on but the shoes are in my head now. For years I've coveted those Clergerie platforms that Trinny seems to have in every colour and they're miles outside any fictional budget for dressy shoes I don't need.

I wear 40% Birks (a gift to my fallen arches/plantar fasciitis), 40% NB trainers with arch support inserts and 20% other incl Beklina wooden platform clogs and platform sandals from Free People. I don't need them. If I had a wedding invite I'd snap them up.

I came home and scoured the web for a used pair but no dice, the style didn't appear anywhere and I wonder if they were samples as there were some in the sale. This has made me a little crazy in the head.

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/07/2023 14:38

Buy them, buy them, buy them!!

Pruneaux · 09/07/2023 14:40

Hadn’t heard of this brand and just looked it up. Gorgeous shoes …I’d go for it

BringOutTheGimp · 09/07/2023 14:42

Get the shoes 👠

Vitriolinsanity · 09/07/2023 14:43

For the love of God herself woman, BUY THEM!

Just had a prowl round their website. Love the designs.

jeaux90 · 09/07/2023 14:46

Buy them. I have a pair of Chie's best buy shoe wise...although I do love Esska.

jeaux90 · 09/07/2023 14:47

And those are usually about 300 euros so they are half price!!

AHugeTinyMistake · 09/07/2023 14:50

Never heard of the brand either and googled

I'm in love - gorgeous shoes 😍

OP - go back to the shop and buy them!

smokingcarriageonly · 09/07/2023 16:10

Argh you S&B lot are useless 😂👠Should've posted in AIBU for a good kicking 😀

I've rung the shop and they're keeping them aside. The car DH and I bought yesterday afternoon has broken down 😡and I can't collect them until that's fixed so fingers crossed.

I can't believe I didn't take a photo of them, I often do when on the fence about a purchase.

I seem to remember mithering on about a particular pair of sunglasses for about eighteen months - until my mother exclaimed For goodness sake, just buy them! I think sometimes we become irrationally convinced that we don’t ‘deserve’ a certain thing, even though we’re perfectly happy to be extravagant in other areas of life.

It’s one pair of shoes. The world won’t end if you buy them.

Linking their purchase to a broken down car seems a little - I don’t know the word …

smokingcarriageonly · 09/07/2023 16:59

Meta I just meant that I'd drive over and buy them today if I could! But it turns out I'm not going anywhere today or possibly tomorrow.

I'm like that too, I obsess over things. And of course nothing will break if I buy them. I couldn't seem to come down on one side or the other so I thought S&B might shed some light.

@smokingcarriageonly get the bus there!

LaBrujaPiruja · 09/07/2023 17:32

Buy them!
Chies are the comfiest shoes ever, even the very high heeled shoes!

Popplebop · 09/07/2023 17:38

You know you have to buy them. I have a pair of green velvet CM platform sandals bought via Toast about 3 years ago and they are still beautiful and comfortable.

@smokingcarriageonly get the bus there!

Good idea, I'll camp out in the car park and be there when they unlock the door in the morning 😀

jeaux I love Esska too - gorgeous! - but they didn't fit me well and were uncomfortable.

LaBruja Popplebop thanks, very helpful, especially to know the velvet has endured.

It's not even a matter of not feeling worthy or asking permission or whatever, I just get very obsessed about clothes and can't buy everything I like the look of. I hate seeing lovely stuff just sitting around in my wardrobe, I want to wear everything. Writing it down here and reading the comments has been a useful exercise, I love S&B.

Love it on here for another new ( unknown to me) label. Loads on Vinted.

CheerfulBunny · 02/01/2024 12:06

I bought a pair of very strappy black suede wedge sandals on ebay, mostly out of curiosity because of the rave reviews on MN. I only paid about £15 for sandals in perfect condition, probably only worn once or twice so that's an option. Oh, and they are lush - they're really well balanced somehow and so light and beautifully made.
